Ok, I phoned Game last week about the PSP Giga pack and asked if I bought it, how much would I get for trading World Tour Soccer in straight after I buy it and they said £16. I left it for a week and decided to order from Argos and received the PSP with World Tour Soccer and WRC, I took World Tour Soccer still Fully Sealed and Brand new into Game and the cheaky bastards said we can give you £5 for it !!!!! I turn around and and look behind me and they are selling it for £35!!!! I Bet if I did trade it in they would have just banged it into their New game pile for £35 as well!!!

I should have stood next to the PSP Shelve and everyone that looked at the PSP Games I could have offered the game to for £20 (£15 cheaper than Game) :p LOL :D

MAybe the Person was new??... but £5 was just stupidly low seen as it was still sealed brand new which they probably would have put on their shelves as a New game (Not a trade in game) for £35.

Mmm, bit odd. But they can't legally take it in as pre-owned if it's sealed.
I know this through experience.

Bought an xbox which came with a free game- Simpsons Hit and Run- if I remember.
Didnt want it so took it off down to Gamestation, where they refused to buy it because it was still wrapped. They told me to go outside, unrap it and come back in. Which I did.

Sounds like a stupid law to me. The game had previously been pre-owned by me. Its just that I didnt ever open it. I suppose it's to stop them selling it as new.

And yet at EB (at least in Australia) you can buy a game, take it back if you don't like it and get your money back. Then they out the game back on the shelf at the full retail price, despite the fact that it technically is second hand goods.

actually they can say it's preowned just because it didnt come from their distributer, stores do the same thign with DVDs because there's no set rule for what to di when someone wants to sell your store a sealed product when you only expect to get used stuff.

I had bought a copy of Beyond Good and Evil for PS2 for like 10 bucks (on a special sale) but I really wanted the Gamecube version because it was rated better but I couldnt actually find any. I took it to another store where they were selling the PS2 and GC version for 35 bucks. I asked the guy behind the counter if he'd do a straight trade of the sealed PS2 version in my bag for the GC version on his counter. He took about 2 seconds to say "sure" and I had my GC version with no problem. Heck I was almost willing to pass him a couple of bucks to smooth over the deal but I didnt need to.

Later I'd have a couple of DVDs that I bought but didnt realize I had already. taking them to another store to trade them would have them litterally give me less than half the sale price in exchange because they just don't NEED your copy. Go ahead argue it with the person at the counter and they'll jsut tell you totake it elsewhere.

Game are so bad at ripping you off. I finished Baten Kaitos on GC back in september and took it to Game. they said i can only give u £9 for it cause its a GC game. What the f**ks that supposed to mean? its still a game that they were selling at £40 and yet they give me £9.

I remember reading somewhere(or atleast being told) that the standard practice was to pay you 25% of the intended sale price of the item you;re selling them (I also remember something about pawn shops, but anyway):

Game cost- 40-45 (new)
Game cost- 35 (used)
25% of 35 = 8.75

Hence the 9 you received. (assuming they used this calculation at all.)

Game will rip you off I know I worked for them about 1 and a half years ago.
If there was a game you bought into the shop that the staff wanted they would give you a low price and buy it themselves later that day. I don't know if they can still do that cos they have a new computer system.

when I worked there it was

£20 for a chart title priced £40
£18 for a non chart title priced £40
I think it was £12 for games priced £29.99
£6 for games priced £19.99
and what ever they wanted for the rest

I even had an arguement with the deputy manager in the same one i worked in a few months about buying a game. It was priced as £4.99 (which was on all of them) and when I got to the till he told me he wouldn't sell it to me for that price cos on the till it said it was £7.99. I told him he had to sell it to me for the price marked and even had other customers saying the same to him in the end he said I could stand there all day but I wasn't getting it for that price cos it would lose game money.
So i thought sod it and left, got home emailed trading standards and also emailed games headoffice got a reply a few days later from both, trading standards saying my complaint had been filed with the there local office and game saying sorry we'll send you a £10 voucher.

I did want to punch the deputy in the face ( I still get that feeling every time I see him) but I wasn't going to drop to there level.

The guys behind the counter were being pricks then. a store with decent employees would say "the store will only give you 6 bucks but I'll buy it off you for 10 since the store would just store will just sell it for 15."

Granted I've discovered that EB calls this stealing from the company but plenty of employees still do it every day and dont get caught.

I've had issues with game, ICO was the most astonishing one, Game were willing to offer me only £8 store credit for a mint UK copy whereas Gamestation gave me £25 cash or £30 store credit.
