I have my GP2X wich is cool I like the little machine I relise i am a early adopter of this little gadget but i have a few problems. Say out of ten times when i switch it on say three out of the ten the screen just hangs on the green gp2x screen before main menu and i have to switch off and start again to get it to boot. I have installed the sdl libaries i have the nes snes quake and homebrew games working. But the negeo and c64 emus dont work when you select them they just go back to main menu on gp2x nothing of the emulator pops up. I have read all the readme files and also check on the forums doing it all ok.

I have tried three cards and also i can not update the firware i know people do have a problem with this i have tried but with no joy i put the img on the card nothinbg else put in gp2x start it up and it just hangs on the grren gp2x screen. wont boot at all i have tried three diffrent cards and all ways of formatting. I have sent a letter to craig but has anyone any ideas, Iam using 2500mh nimh batteries. It seems to be firmware but if i cant update that im stuffed. As i said i am very happy with this machine its fantastic but i
just have these problems. I really dont wont to send it back. I ordered mine on 22nd oct
and got it on thurs last week. So i dont know if craig had already pu the firware on there

cheers !!!

i belive i have a faulty unit when you hold it on the back the screen does the ghosting that they say about in the email with the order. I think that is why the card does not read all the time nevermind I guess i will just send it back apart from that very happy customer.

mine somtimes gets stuck in the green screen also but i tun it off and wait several seconds and it works fine

The ghosting you see is fixed with the LCD firmware update, Which you sadly can`t use at the moment, It is not a hardware fault or a dodgy unit.

EDIT: My GP2x also crashes/freezes at the start-up screen on occations even after the update, But a switch off and back on sorts it out. :)

Yep, both software related.
The crashes (while booting, movie playing, etc.) are because of a still unstable SD-Card driver, the LCD ghosting is already fixed (though it flickers now a bit ;))

i can see them being both software related but when i put my san disk 128 in with frimware update it comes up with the updating firmware and then just hangs in the green screen cannot pass never gets to the main menu screen tried loads of times. any other card with the firware it just hangs in the green screen never boots to the main menu. it runs some stuff but not frodo neogeo cd and as i say out of ten times turning it on 3 of those it will just hang and have to restart. But if i can not update the firmware i am up the swany

You already updated it, 'cause the green screen only comes when the update is finished :)

I think the card reader on the unit is faulty i can not delete anything of the unit it just hangs when i press x to delete and when i update firware and stuff it is still on the card i have checked that is not write protected. So i am sure the card reader on the unit is faulty
