New Snes9xGp Release

and its looking excellent :)

Lots of games are now really playable- brilliant! Been a really busy last 7 days on the gp32 scene :)

I've just discovered flashback is full speed! The dream, well... my dream.

can anyone comment on the speed of this thing? about how fast is it with out frame skip? Does this one have a frame skip option inorder to make it full speed? if so does it look really jumpy with the frame skip on?

It depends greatly on the game, i've been playing flashback with sound on and its fine, but FZero was quite slow.

flashback is one of those games that dosn't have a ton of fast motion. Z-zero on the other hand I can imagine would push the emulator to its limits as far as how fast things move around and just the way its handles graphics. However since flashback runs well does this mean that this emulator will beable to run games such as final fantasy or chrono trigger with sound and save support at a playable speed. RPG's are what I'm hoping will be playable on this thing and if snes rpg's which in my opnion are some of the best rpg's ever made are playable then that alone makes the GP32 worth while.

I've been playing Earthbound at a VERY nice speed (sound turned down, haven't tried it with sound turned on yet.), and Chrono Trigger (which is kind of a heavy game for snes standards) at a very playable speed also with sound turned down. (both with the standard frameskip turned on, which is 3)

Looks like a nice improvement to me :)

(Final Fantasy 6 seems to be running pretty good aswell , wowie! , both chrono trigger and earthbound also saved ok)

I think the speed still isn't exactly what you'd call good for about any game but for all the games I have they are now at least worth playing

i'm not terribly interested myself, but here's a question that I'm sure some people are going to ask: how does it compare to snesemu, without sound?

ill be giving it a try been waiting for a good snes emu
looking forward to a megadrive one too
ive been happily playing away on the gpengine and sms though
these are good enough while im waiting.
i will be sticking the msx one on too
havent tried the gbc yet any comments on this one
infact lets have some low down on all the emulators that way peps know the score
of how fast what runs ,where to put stuff, renaming roms and so forth
think it would help alot out although ive managed to do it myself
others may not be so geared up so lets help them out. B)

no, all of the games i tried ran quite a lot faster on snesemu, i might checked the wrong games then ;)

I've had the opposite experience. With sound off.. I still found Snes9xgp to be slower than Snesemu on the 4 games I tried. (Super Mario World, Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy 2, Secret of Mana). Too bad Zarj (author of Snesemu) is AWOL. I wonder what he did in that single release to have it run so well. :/

With sound on... well... let's just say I won't be playing any games with the sound on, and I can't play games with the sound off so... :) For me, it won't be getting much use yet.

I don't mean to sound so negative. It's still brilliant to see SNES running on our little machine, it's just not really playable yet it my opinion. It's come a long way though and I can't wait to see where it goes. :)

Wish I could try it out now -

Has anyone tried Push Over, Dungeon Master, Another World, Mario Kart, Pilotwings?

just tried Mario Kart...doesn't seem to work at all on mine...freezes at the Nintendo screen in the intro......oh wait, after leaving it for about 45 seconds it finally started playing (weird!) - ok, it's up and running now...with sound...but really REALLY slow (not playable yet unfortunately)

just tried Street Fighter 2, which is playable (essentially the ONLY game i really want to play out of all the emulators)...but still not full speed (obviously)

nice progress indeed

GBC - only tried Tetris DX so far, and that works fine in colour
SMS - everything works perfectly
GPengine - everything perfect except Shinobi, SF2 and Ghouls'n'Ghosts :(
SNES - still slow ,but promising...Mario World is almost playable now
C64 - everything perfect, but occasional random sprite glitches/crashing
GB - Marioland 1 works perfect, but Marioland 2 has a errors in the map and certain sprites..
NES - sound errors and not quite full speed yet...

that's all i've tried so far i think - keep up the good work emulator programmers!
