It doesn't look like a doom port has been started just yet. It shouldn't be difficult at all, especially since prBoom is already a DooM engine that runs through SDL on Linux. Shouldn't take much more than a recompile and key remapping. From what I understand, the Zaurus SL-5500 port of DooM was just a recompile of PrBoom, and the Zaurus SL-5500 is similar hardware (though less powerful, actually). Assuming the version turns out to be based off of PrBoom, you could run DooM, DooM II, and "Final DooM" (which, considering they made DooM 3, is not quite a fitting name :D

If by "latest version of Final Fantasy" you mean something like Final Fantasy X, XI, or XII, that's not going to happen, the GP2x does not have sufficient 3d capabilities, nor the CPU power to emulate a PS2. Could you link to the shot of Final Fantasy on it? I'm thinking it may have been a shot from the new movie, since a video circulating of the GP2x shows the new Final Fantasy movie playing. Personally, I'm expecting the SNES Final Fantasies to work pretty well (too soon to tell if it'll be "perfect"). The playstation ones are probably a bit of a stretch.

I think he means the image of the GP2X playing a trailer of Final Fantasy. ;) It's just to show the movie-playing-capabilities.

I am quite sure that you will be able to play the new version of Doom that will be coming out for the X-Box 360. Plus any future versions of Final Fantasy will be able sooner or later to run on the GP2x.

Any comments about the machine not being powerful enough are just daft! I mean, it's bigger than a psp, just think of all those extra chips whirring away....

My atari 2600 is bigger than a psp. Can I play new versions of doom on that?

I was planing on making a doom 3 port for the atari 2600, but the problem it does not have enough buttons, you have to remember so many joystick combinations it is sickening, but my gamegear port is comming along very nicely. : P

You are forgetting that the GP2X cannot play games of that caliber (due to the width) without the steam-powered clockwork attachment, based on a design by Charles Babbage. The age of the design has given it time to mature into a fully functional and sophisticated platform.
