Hey gang, it's been a couple days since I was here, but that's a good thing- less questions for you to answer, and aside from that, it's because I've been finally getting some real good playing time with my GP32! Heall yeah, it's about time!

I do love the thing. The nes emulation is fun, and the SNes is in some ways a little worse than I hoped (FF3) but better than I expected pretty much everywhere else. Thanks Reesy and others!

Anyway, I've actually found myself spending a lot of time using the Lazy Reader text program too. I read and write quite a bit, so this thing kicks ass for saving my writings and other documents.

But most of my documents are Word documents, which have many pictures to augment certain paragraphs and so on. So I was wondering, is there a program out there that can read and display photos at the same time? I scanned over a lot of the stuff in the file archive, and while individual text and jpeg viewers are handy, is there one that can display both? I don't mean individually, but rather a program that can display something such as a saved web page that has a photo on it.

Oh, one other thing- I seem to be having trouble with GPMame and some things like Wolfenstein and the Commodore 64 emulator. They don't seem to recognize my files (even if they find them, there's usually an error of some kind). Does anyone have any tips?

Well, thanks for any help but otherwise I'm having a grand ol' time enjoying this system.

Well, feel free to send me a PM if you need any help with Wolfenstein3D, I'll see if I can help you get it running!

Thanks Hooka.

Can anyone else just give me a yea or nay if they've seen anything that can read text + pictures?

Yes "!reader" is the best reader on the GP32 by far.

Latest Beta version here.
Older version here (which doesn't have blurry font).

!reader is indeed very good. It can display text files, various eBook formats, PDFs (text only) and HTML pages (with images!).
So I guess you should convert your Word documents to HTML and see if !reader displays them correctly.

Wow, fantastic! Thanks guys, I had never heard of some of this. I appreciate it!

Hmm, I don't know what I'm doing wrong- I saved my docs as HTMLs and threw them on my card, but the !reader only displays the text and doesn't show any of the photos.

Can someone familiar with this help me figure it out?

Hi,

You have placed images on the SMC as well as the HTML file? :)

I've never used !reader before, but it seems that it is a very simple parser, so probably doesn't actually read the HTML document as such, but just rips out the text and graphics. If this is the case, try:
1) Only place images inline with text (don't put them in tables etc)
2) Place all images in same directory as HTML (not in seperate folder)
3) If (2) doesn't work, try placing images in an 'images' subdirectory

Any luck? I'd be interested to know...

Strange, I've never saved something as an HTML document before so it seems weird. I'll try this, though. I do know that when I saved a test page as HTML it saved (and included the pictures where they were originally) but then automatically saved a redundant-looking folder of files for the HTML document. Though I put both in GPMM, I didn't take the files out of their folder so perhaps that's the problem. It's just a weird system, I thought it would be more automatic.

Thanks though, I guess I'll post any recurring problems if anyone else can help out again.

Oh man, never mind. I appreciate the help but this is all greek to me! I think I'll just have to stick with plain text because I don't know what this stuff menas.
