Hi there. I'm obviously new here and I have a few questions, just like every other newb.
Ok, first and foremost: I was thinking about getting a GP32. I saw it a few months ago, and thought it was super spiffy, but kinda forgot about it. I was looking through my favorites list and saw the link I had saved as was like "Oh yeah!!!" Plus, now I actually have some money. So, my question, is the ASR Special Edition GP32 w/ FLU a good deal? I've been reading around and I know that ASR is supposed to be a great game, but it is very dialogue heavy. It's too bad they didn't change the look of the actual system for the special edition, but the box is damned cool looking.
Second: As some people that have been around the GP32 community for a while, do you see the popularity or community dying off any time soon, or has popularity and support been increasing?
Third: Is there, or is it possible to make, a Pocket PC emulator for the GP32? Since so many things have been ported over to the Pocket PC already it would very much increase the available software. Of course it wouldn't be able to play some of the more recent games that make use of the 400 MHz proccesors on the newer models.
And last, but most important: I noticed most of you live in the UK, and have mentioned the tax on importing from Lik-Sang and I think Yes-Asia also. Well, I live in the US and am wondering whether I would be taxed on an import as well. And if so, how much?

Thanks a bunch,

ASR while it looks like a sweet game probably won't be worth the time. Its an rpg and and emglish speaking person will probably find it pointless. If you still want the game get the normal gp32 now and then waite for the european release to buy it. The game will be released in english then. As for the popularity of the system I would say that it seems to be increasing. Like I mentioned before it is going to be released in the UK sonn so that could only mean that it will become more popular or atleast will be in the hands of more people who could potentialy become developers. As for the pocket pc emulator I would say that it seems unlikly but you never know alot of things that seem unlikley have been proven possible. The system is nice because continues to evolve. Recently new nes and sms emulators have been relesed which are pretty damn near perfect. These systems have been emulated for some time but are now emulated very very well. Its things like this which keep pushing the system and making it that much better. I have only had mine for a few months but its like a totaly diffrent system now than it was when I first got it. Every day there are new apps released which continue to blow my mind. I live in the states and I ordered mine from lik-sang. I think it came up to $181 total after shipping but I got lucky and didn't get stuck with import taxes. I know there is a place in new york called the discount shop I don't have the adress of the site. I think the system itself will cost you a bit more but the shipping is way less and you don't have to worry about import taxes.

Hey, American monkey boy, get it from the-discount-shop.com, they're based in New York. Takes about a week, but it's only 230 bucks, same as lik-sang. It has a free shipping option (that took about a week for me) and you don't have to worry about import taxes. And if you want 64/128MB SMC's, check out openlinx.com, they have 128MB for like 29 bucks each with free shipping. I'd get 2 right away if I were you. (I did get 2 right away, and got another 2 just recently). Yeah, I'm appearently the most knowledgeable when it comes to the discount shop.

Just thought I'd help you out there since angrypants couldn't remember the site(s).

There ya go, now go buy one already!

Its well worth getting the ASR package because it will only become more valuble as time goes bye because its a collectors wet dream plus even though ASR is dialoge heavy its still a great game and easy to get into my advice is to get it while you can :D

Ok, now I'm definitely buying one, and I was gonna do it right now but I'm still kind of unsure as for what I should get and where I should get it from.

I'm really compelled to get the GP32 FLU ASR pack from Play-Asia, but I'm afraid of a huge import tax. I asaw someone mention having the site they bought it from mark the package as a gift thereby avoiding any taxes. Would that work for me?
Also, do you think there's a good chance that an english patch will be released for ASR?

Has anyone bought anything from Entware, because they are selling the ASR pack too?

How did you ask them though, is there a comment section when youi place the order?

I got my GP32 from play-asia and didn't pay any sort of import tax. I didn't ask for it to be marked anything special, and I didn't see the work "gift" anywhere on the package, so maybe I was just lucky.

BTW, the express shipping is great. I ordered mine on sunday night, and it was at my house (NJ) on wednesday!
