Mame And Missing Sound

There are ALOT of games in the current MAME that either have incomplete sound (Donkey kong, Galaxians) or no sound at all (Space invaders, Zaxxon, Phoenix). Would it be possible to maybe get some sound code from later versions of MAME to fix those? Also it was said that adding that code may impact other games. How about this, put all of the games that need samples etc for the sound to work into one FXE for sampled games. This way it won't effect the ones that don't need samples and/or improved sound code to work.

Any thoughts on this? Thegrimreaper I know you were looking at this possibly, have you found anything out?

yep it is possible to fix the sound, just needs some time for the code to be sorted out and copied over.

it is not so easy...

Couldn't the games that needed it use a newer version or code from a newer version of MAME for sound? It was already stated that some games may be included from later versions in the future.

Like I said maybe these games that needed this new sound code could be in a fxe by themselves as to not effect the others.

You seemed to be able to add sound from a different version for The Real GhostBuster sound taken from MAME 0.35b1 howcome it is not possible to do the same with the other games?

I can't believe that these games have to remain silent forever on the GP32.

What about the sound quality in the games that do have it right now? The sound pops and is crackley on most games. Can this be fixed or is it just the original MAME code that does that?

Franxis you can do it. We have faith in you. You got it this far which is awesome.. some said MAME was near impossible on GP32, Please don't give up now :) You are our only hope.

I removed the samples support a long ago, then there is a lot of work to do to add again to my MAME port. Also the sound mixer now is not prepared to use long samples (samples larger than 1/60 seg.). There is a lot to do...

DaveC, i do my best with the sound quality, but i don't know how to do it better now... Maybe someone could help ??? The main problem is that MAME needs a lot of CPU power and as a consecuence sound quality is affected... This is because GP32 doesn't have a sound processor. If someone knows how to improve this i think everybody would be happy no???.

Regards.
