Well, I got a SMC (6in1 actually) reader, and it works gr8 :) But sometimes, everything is wiped from it, and I heard somewhere that it is static from inserting/removing. Is static permantly damaging? Will it be better (for me not the static) to take it out slow or fast after transfer? Can the wipes happen when you aren't inserting/removing? Plz respond fast as I am going tommorow morning.

the problems i had with my SMC writer (1-in-1  ) erasing cards was because it did not support fat12/fat16 properly ... sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn't ... i gave up in the end as it just wasn't a reliable system :(

If you read the sticky about Fat12/16, you'll find that SMC writers often dump the cfat files on there too to let Windows use long filenames. Which is fine until you start moving things about - its when I've done that that I've had my SMC-wipes.

idd, if you've got saves you can't afford to lose, and still have your SMC writer, you can use SCANDISK and choose to recover the lost clusters as files. Ok, a lot of then will be called things like "FILE0001" but I'm sure you'll get over it...

Sorry for bringd this dead discussion back but I just got home from vacation and want to find what the prob is, I thought of 2 things 1. LJgp wiped the smc (was using it, tried a savestate and erred, restarted the gp32 and everything was gone) 2. Pressure on smc because I was high in the mountains when it happened (no, not cold, I was in a car)

Better not be pressure, as i'm planning to use mine in an airplane next week. :D

(They are safe to use on planes right? )

Pressure is no problem in an airplane - they use pressure control systems, you know (otherwise your head would probably explode ;)

And: YES! I played Final Fantasy 1 using LJGP in 10000m height in an airplane - no problems :)
