Interested In Gp32

The GP32 is brilliant for emulation, currently on mine i have...

MAME - About 700 older MAME games (v32) work very well. eg Bombjack

Megadrive - The latest Megadrive emulator works with most games very well with great sound etc.

Spectrum - fzx32 is brilliant, games can be legally downloaded from www.worldofspectrum.org so that gives you about 4000 games to try. If you had one of these in the 80's you'll love it

C64 - Frodo is an excellent emulator, again game files are easy to find and like Speccy games the filesize is so small you could fit tons of games on

Atari ST - Castaway - One of my favourite emulators, tons of great games can be found for this and many are very very good

Atari VCS - Classic old games from the early 80's on this emulator

Atari 800 emulator - Lots more classic games

NES - Tons of games for this, Mario games are of course excellent

PC Engine - Never had one of these but the arcade conversions for this are brilliant and many other great games on it

Master System - Again tons of games out there on the net to find

MSX - Never knew about this before emulation, some very good games for this

Gameboy Mono - A lot of the older grey mono games can be played, again if you had one of these first time round its brilliant to play Tetris or Mario Land

Colecovision - I like to try games out on this emulator, not band at all

Overall on my 128 meg card i have about 800 games to try and get through. Some emulators arent 100% perfect, might have slightly poor sound or others might not have 100% success rate with every rom but when you think theyre all free you cant go wrong. Any help you need PM me

There's evrything you need on this forum. The search button is a bit poor to be honest (!), but somebody is making a website dedicated to all this (John-anyone remember the url?).

There is also a thread which lists all the best games on the various emus. If I have time I'll come back and edit this post with the links...

http://www.cypherspace.co.uk/GP32Answers is the temp URL. It's only half-done as yet but I'm plodding along. Sorry for the delay folks but I am currently back on dialup so research is taking forever.

Will be done soonish though ;)

DrMD is a genesis emulator.
it plays much games fullspeed and with sound.
i havent tried streetfighter 2 turbo but it seems to runn well :)

And is this on the emulator when you download it, or you have to find the Roms?
no, its not on the emulator, you'll have to "find" them.
btw. doom on the gp32 is really cool :), and its not emulated :D, thus a very good speed.

Ok cool :) Im getting it now, just like Pc's you download the Emulators but ROM files elsewhere B)

 you really think fast :D :p

Make sure you get the backlit version of the GP32 (BLU). The Non-lit one can't be played in the dark, and the frontlit one (FLU) has washed out colors, dust in the screen, and un-even lighting.

Streetfighter 2 Turbo works great on DrMD

I get 25 - 45 fps on my blu at 166mhz great version of the game and the sf2 experiance on the GP32.

Snez version is better graphics (more colours) but only runs good with sound off...

A thread like this from a newbie shows we are still a caring community (after I joined, Ii've done my best to wreck it!).

And I love the way these threads turns into a 'why the GP32 is so great' kinda thread!!!

@John Dial Up????!!! How do you cope?

Yeah Gp32 pwnz :D
Many systems emulated near perfect...
Nothing much better than having a dozen videogame systems in your pocket.,The gaming experiences of your childhood on an smc...
Gp32 is pure retro gaming bliss... :)

 Do some games not have sound? B)
Yeah depending on what system you are emulating...alot of systems are emulated fullspeed w/ sound(Genesis,Gameboy, Gamegear,Sega master system,pcengine,msx...and more)
Somesystems are emulated fullspeed without sound(snes)
And some systems arent emulated well enough to even play commercial games on them them(Gba)
(There are more systems emulated on gp32 than i have mentioned, these are just the ones that i know off the top of my head... :) )

With great difficulty :D I had broadband until a few weeks ago but moving house meant that I had to cancel it. I am only staying where I am now temporarily so I can't really get it here (telewest phone and they only do 12 month contracts). It's not too bad for the time being but it is making the GP32 Newbie website a pain to work on because a lot of it relies on me spending time searching this forum looking for those definative answers to things. A slow connection and potentially huge phone bill is a bit of a put-off at the mo'... I am making some progress though :)
