Just out curiosity, what resolution do the people have who come here? I saw a statistic somewhere that said that 40% of internet users still have a resolution of 800x600 or less... that statistic would include me, I guess, since that's what I use. ;)

If you have a resolution in between one of the numbers, just pick whatever it's closest to.

generally 800x600 on a 17" CRT... i have a very relaxed setup and sit a few feet away from the screen (read: i'm not sitting at a desk), so 800x600 is pretty comfortable for reading webpages.

occasionally it gets whacked up to 1024x768 when an application really needs it.

comparing the visual area of my TV and my monitor, which are in the same room - quick eye-flick to the left and i'm watching the TV, the monitor is a fair bit bigger, because it's closer, which might explain why I like to watch DVDs on the computer .

of course, the ideal setup would be using the far wall as a projector screen. but we can't always get what we want...

1280x1024

I thought this was most common, which makes me wonder why it's not in this poll as an option.
It's not like I'm capable of doin 16-whatever or anything like that - but I figure most 17" monitors go up to 1280x1024... eventhough not all choose to use this.

Am I wrong?

Yes you are, all resolutions in the poll have a 4:3 ratio. You are using a non-standard screen resolution which may lead to some images on your screen being distorted (slightly).

Regardless of 1280*1024 not being a standard screen res, it's extremely common. I use it because it's my TFT's native res.

Once you move up a resolution it's very hard to go back down :(

I know exactly how you feel there Rico, I love 1600x1200 but I think it was buggering up my eyes and the rest of the family hated it. I'm starting to get used to my current res:
1280*1024

I'd take the results of this poll with a pinch of salt - we all own GP32s, after all :p
