Game List: See the webpage: http://www.talfi.net/gp32_franxis/

The game roms will have to be copied to \GPMM\MAME034\ folder on the SMC.

About 90% of the games run at 100% with frameskip 1-2...

Please be patient... ;-)

My MAME port will need MAME 0.34 Final Version ROMs to run ok...

It's really good to see another emu enter the scene (Especially from another author), though I'm not really fond of MAME. Thanks anyways, though.

This is really unbelieveable! Brilliant work. Arcade games on the GP32? :)

It's a pity that we couldn't all swap and share and download each other's working 0.34 roms. I know the rules. I've got 578 arcade machines in my house which I'll be using to get my roms ;-)

Edit: 579, Ghosts 'n' Goblins has just come in a van. That's the double bed (and girlfriend) out. No space. Priorities.

Great stuff man. Can't wait to get some Double Dragon and Track n Field on my GP32! Sure, there are plenty of ports for other systems, but there's nothing quite like an arcade original.

Franxis,

Your MAME port sounds amazing!

Since many of the games need 1 - 2 frameskips, any chance you could implement a "frame skip adjust" similar to what Yoyo did with LJGP? Basically it let you get frame rates in between the major skips, like 40fps or 25fps for example. 30fps is often bad because blinking objects disappear.

And regarding ste_187's reference to Track and Field... An autofire setting would also be extremely useful on games that need constant repeated presses.

Thanks. :)

Coooor, Am i glad i got a second Blu as back-up. B)

This is EXCELLENT!!!, I admire all the hard work you`ve put into this project.
If its anything close to what you have just said, Then i think i`m going to need a few more SMC`s.

Ooowww, I feel another donation coming on. :p

EDIT: *Cough* RF support *Cough* :)

Howcome so many .FXEs though? Is it a memory thing? How will you remember what game is in what .FXE? I might not know who made what game. Also I might want Pac-Man and think is it in Namco? or is it in Classic? Zaxxon is a classic and so is Frogger both made by Sega but they are in different .FXEs.

Maybe you could have some sort of "front end" for it with a list of games. Then when you pick a game it would automatically pick the correct .FXE and run the game. That would prevent some ofthe confusion, just an idea.

Anyway this will be great, time to call BananaPC for some more SMCs....

Once again, I gotta agree with Dave on this one. Much as I appreciate the fact that someone is porting Mame at all, I agree it will be a major pain in the buttox to figure out which FXE to use to run which games. The frontend selector idea of Daves is a really good idea, I'd think not so hard to implement? Well even if Franxis doesn't get the chance to do this himself, I'd think it'd be easy for anyone with even a small amount of dev experience to do this sort of fxe-loader? (really fishing here but what the heck :p )

Dave & Bast have got a good point, a frontend would be a good idea so that it just loads the correct fxe based on the game chosen.

If that's not ready by the 6th of March though, how about a list of games per each fxe?

eh, I think that either a) he probably hadn't thought to do this yet, B) he did think of it and already implemented it, or c) he thought of it but just wanted to get an initial release out, and is planning on implenting it in a later release.

You make it sound like it wouldn't be easy, well I'm sure it'd be easier than the actual act of getting MAME running on the GP at all......

its like wow mame on the dreamcast... i was thinking that was the right way to do it!

it should work real well...

its a nifty way of cutting down on the code so it runs faster!

nice work

Even though there are multiple exe's theres only one place for the roms so chuck em all in there, start each exe one at a time and you'll soon find out what exe runs what games.

I just dont want there to be some delay or that in case he wants to make a sudden change !

Once that emulators released it could be amazing !

I just hope i have the right roms for it, i have many of those games but i'm unsure what version they are. I can see the nightmares after i get the emulator with me pulling my hair out as the roms i have dont work !
