I appologize if this has been asked before, I tried searching for the topic online and I have had issues. Thanks for any help given

I downloaded the scummtools and lame 3.92. I copied the monster file onto my HD. I then dragged the monster file to the lame file and it created a smaller file.

12.9mb for Indy 4
15.8mb for sam and max
23.2mb for DOTT

now when i dragged these new smaller files onto the gp32 (in smart media card mode) i got an error (it said "unknown error occured.") this happened with each file. now i read your suppose to use the extract file... but everytime i have clicked on that it opens a dos window and closes it quickly. So i dragged the new monster file onto it... didn't do anything... Just to tell you the extract.exe file doesn't have an icon or anything, just that little dos window (maybe i didn't compile it right?)

So i am a bit confused on how to get these files to work... any help is appreciated.

oh and i don't know if this helps but i am using scumm 160 mhz V5 on my Gp Blu. It's not a blu + from what I know, just a normal blu

Well, ScummVM isn't compatible with mp3s yet, so tou'll have to compress them to OGG Vorbis using ScummVM-tools (found on the ScummVM page). Just place the monster.sou in the folder with the tools in it and use the command line, typing "extract --vorbis monster.sou". This never worked for me though...
I don't know if there's any other place to get this file (monster.sog). In that case I guess that sould be the easiest way...

yeah my problem is the window closes so fast that i can't even type or see what is happening.

has anyone had sucess doing this?

edit: i am moving this to the help forum

You have to create a batch file or edit a shortcut file to have "X:\extract.exe" --vorbis monster.sou

I can't give exact instructions as I don't have it on me nut if you right click on the ogg creator thingy which came with ScummVM and click on "Create Shortcut" then click ont he shortcut created and click properties and add --vorbis monster.sou or whatever after the Writing (which is in quotation marks) in the Target box...

Can't remember what the name of the program or the command line operators for it (sorry)

I was under the impression that MP3 support is OK and OGG support is basic at best. Unless there has been a new version since 0.5.1

well i got it to encode the file but for some reason the gp32 is not allowing me to put it in that folder... it's weird

The only way you would ever have MP3 support on the GP32 (and crappy evil SMC eating MP3 support that is) is via a leaked build. I have never released a public build that supported MP3. My 0.5.1 builds support OGG, alas poorly.

I have recently rekindled my affair with the GP32 so there may be another ScummVM from me yet, no promises as my life is very different to what it was a year ago. I have also started to try and keep my blog up to date with status on my projects and such so expect any comments from me to end up there.

DJWillis, you're back!

 :p

BTW, I've found a semi-solution to that problem I had of all of my saves suddenly dissappearing in SCUMM after playing for more than an hour non-stop: play for no more than 30-45 minutes, then save, then restart your GP32 and play from the save if you want to play further. ;)
Also, I notice that SCUMM seems to have a bug: if you load up a save, the music won't play in whatever scene you happen to be. You probably know about this one, though...

Anyway, good to see you back! I'll add the link to your blog site to GP32World's link database if it's not there already. That's ok, right? EDIT: Wait, I just noticed that I already have a link for GPScummVM, but it's for this site. Will that one still be updated anymore or should I change the link?

The blog (well www.distant-earth.co.uk) will point to anything I am working on so point the link there not at an individual page (I am going to move hosts but that link will always work). That old page will be binned soon and just point to the new page. I am importing all my old project notes into the blog as I go (and finding at least 6 projects I forgot I started ;)).

That music bug was a 0.5.* feature if I remember correctly. Glad you found a saves work around.
