just wondering people's opinions on the best version of puzzle bobble/bust a move that can run on GP32 (if there is one...)
rediscovered it recently, playing at the only place i know that still has a neo geo multi cart (MS3/Bust A Move) and bought Ultra for xbox. fun fun fun!

I haven't tested any of them, but a quick search on gamefaqs, narrowed by a knowledge of GP-emulatable systems brings up these;

Puzzle Bobble GB (Game Boy)
Bust-a-Move 4 (Game Boy Colour)
Bust-a-Move Millenium (Game Boy Colour)
Bust-a-Move (Game Gear)
Bust-a-Move (SNES)

I should imagine that the SNES version is the best, but eats through the GP's batteries the quickest. The Game Gear version is definatly a close second. As for the GB vers, Kinda baffling how you can have a Puzzle Bobble game on a black and white system. I'll have to look that one out sometime.

Yeah, the GB mono version is pretty poor; you have to think harder due to patterns not being as easily recognisable as colours, and thus the game's difficulty increases exponentially because you aren't given proportionally anything like as much time.

The GBC version, on the other hand, is pretty good :)

There is a puzzle bobble remake on the MSX 2 which is almost identical to the snes version.
(exept music)

Runs full speed on fmsx!!

Bubble Rain for MSX

Also, there is the gameboy advanced bust a move, that works beautifully on the gpadvance emulator, actually runs too fast on the newest version, maybe there is some speed throttle I am missing.

Its bust a move, not super bust a move that works, I think. There is also a homebrew gba version that I couldn't find to test.

The best version bar none is on the pc, mac, and yopy handheld, called frozen bubbles, its freeware, and very very good. If someone cold port the Ipaq version, it looks great. It is open source at http://www.frozen-bubble.org/

Ports:

* Yopy PDA version by Alexandre Boeglin: http://bigbugsite.free.fr/frozen/howto.html
* Series 60 (Symbian mobile phones) version by Elias Konstadinidis: http://fb-s60.sourceforge.net/
* Microsoft Windows version by Amir Szekely (proprietary software sucks, please use Frozen Bubble with a free OS when possible): http://sourceforge.net/projects/fb-win32/
* An even easier-to-install Microsoft Windows version by Paul Malcher (proprietary software sucks, please use Frozen Bubble with a free OS when possible): http://sourceforge.net/projects/fbe-win32/
* Mac OS X 10.2.x version by Bob Ippolito (proprietary software sucks, please use Frozen Bubble with a free OS when possible): http://redivi.com/~bob/frozenbubble.html

Is there a list anywher on what runs on GPA?

anyway there is a homebrew Puzzle Bobble Like Game made in Fenix I think.. I just don't remember what it was Called

I had GBC and now I also have GBA SP. GBC version of Bust A Move is the best I saw on the handhelds. GBA version is kinda poor, bubbles are too small, CPU cheats ... :(
