This post was made by Mirko the author of a new ST emulator. I wanted to make it a new topic because it was buried in the Amiga hoax post so it may have been missed by some. I think it is a pretty significant developement :)

"No, this is not a fake,

i am working on a Hatari port to gp32,

Hatari is a new Atari ST emulator,
some nice features :
pefect emulated custom chips ( keyboard chip )
perfect sound
can use zip compressed msa and st files
Build in Tos 1.4 ( english )

A first release is very close...

Mirko"

I dunno... I'm at the very least interested in it. Though if he manages to beat CaSTaway without using Cyclone, I shall be most impressed - its an *amazing* emu in terms of both completeness and speed...

Oh, likewise... but nonetheless, despite Castaway's brilliantness, I am interested. There are still a couple of features that could be useful in it, after all, if only very few (HDD emulation support and errm... that's it, I think. Bar STe emulation, iirc, which I *think* Castaway doesn't do).

Even if it doesn't do anything CaSTaway doesn't, though, it's still a worthwhile project as long as Mr_Mirko enjoys writing it (after all that's really the point of most projects, isn't it?)

Sensi, and how well it copes with 3D games - though it could well be that the real ST coped just as dodgily. Its mainly for Frontier Elite 2 that I'm interested in Mirko's one, or indeed in the potential implementation of Cyclone into CaSTaway...

That and the odd racer, which sometimes look to be fun :)

Castaway is kind of slow. When I play xenon 2 it is very "chuggy" and bogs down alot. If this new emu manages to improve the speed than just that makes it worth while. The implimentation of cyclone into castaway would be cool but the author is so busy with the Zodiac that an update may be a ways off for the GP32. And for those that will say "GP32 Castaway is not slow" I beg to differ. I had Castaway for the Zodiac and it was smoother and less boggy. Now that I sold the Zodiac, the GP32 version is all I have. If this Hatari emu manages to beat Castaway in speed/smoothness than it will be great.
