Hi all!

I got my new GP32 BLU today but im not happy about it.. the reason is that all my games like FF2-3, CT, SoM, Mario and Megaman is sooo sloooow, i can jump, take another bite from my icecream, wipe away the sticky things from my cheek befor i land, its so not SNES...

i dont know what to do.. how come i play the game at 40% slower speed? i cant figure it out.. i tryed to mix the frame thing but it just getting slower..

Music, one of the best parts of a great RPG, but here its crap, i turned of the sound on intro team on FF3, and that cant be good...

am i doing something wrong? it must be becouse so many like Gp32... I was sooo happy this morning when it arrived but now im sad like never befor :(

i use OpenSnes9Xgp wich i heard should be good, but its crap for me..

and one last thing, cant you get the games on the HOLE screen? not like GBA SP, i bought the GP32 for the easy emu and the BIG screen :(

plz guys i hope you can come with a super emu or something that really works like a SNES game and not 50% lesser speed :/

SNES emulation has never been perfect, everyone has the same problem

try a few other games (Mario World works OK) or a different emulator (Fgen for Genesis, Little John for NES or fgb for GBC)

some emulators allow you to stretch the screen, but more often than not it distorts the sprites

come on, the games are not that slow.

I dont understand what you mean by ". i tryed to mix the frame thing but it just getting slower.."

You need to increase the Frame skipping to increase the speed. Also, you should turn sound off. It will increase game speed greatly.

There is no screen stretch on Opensnes but there is on plenty of other emu's.

Tbh, you should have researched your purchase more. Just reading any threads here, and you should have realised that SNES emu is not perfect with sound. It is fullspeed w/o soud with FS on lots and lots of games tho.

Also, try not to sound ungrateful. SNES emulation has been worked on by various people over the last 2 years. You coming here, sounding ungrateful for a free product and asking for a "super emulator" (bear in mind there has been an Emu release just today) helps nobody.

Might I assume you're new to emulation, Granz? ;)

OS9X is still in development and therefore still a little slow. Sound isn't finished yet. The latest version, 0.3, is much improved though, but since sound isn't optimized, the speed increase only becomes apparent if you turn the sound off.

There are other systems emulated better than the SNES at the moment; FGen is full speed, and Little John (by the same guy who made OS9X) is full speed with sound. :)

Be patient, and appreciative of what we have; programming is a long and difficult job. :)

Try pressing "select" at the os9xgp startup screen to change the clock setting from 133mhz to a higher frequency. You'll be surprised at the difference between running it at 133mhz and 166mhz. (which is the best imo, unless your some lucky sob that can do 200mhz!)

If you had the games on the whole screen then it would be badly distorted. The current sizing is at the right aspect ratio, and is already very good.

yeah try overclocking.

search the forums for more info on overclcoking and how high you can go- dont be surprised if your unit crashes whilst trying.

I bought my GP32 ages ago on the prospect on great SNES emulation (which I think has been reaslised).

However at the time it hadnt, so I amused myself with all the other homebrew apps/ games and emulators. Now, I dont even play SNES.

Try-

Fgb
Castaway
Frodo
FGen
etc etc

thx guys..

i have it on 166mhz but im still not happy with speed/sound, the thing is that i can change it back, so if ur sure that i will come better emu in later time i might keep it abit longer and see..

but i cant play RPG without sound, i just cant... is it the gp32 thats wrong? couse when i play on the comp its full speed and great sound, (on Chrono trigger)
but on gp32 its 70% speed and bad sound, i must have done something crasy....

and i have new battery, still the lamp is glowing red, why?

No, noone is sure of anything. The fact that .3 was released is amazing enough

Whats more powerful, your computer or the gp32? Of course its gonna be slower on the gp, theres simply less power to work with

If your looking for perfect snes emulation, the gp is simply not the machine for you. I dont know if you realize the amount of hours and hard work developers put into these emulators, quite frankly you sound ungreateful. SNES on the gp is pretty good; Lots of games run well with sound (donkey kong, blackthorne, space megaforce, soulblazer, etc), and most games run well without sound. The best thing about the gp is its versatility; if your only in it for snes and not the other things (homebrew, genesis, nes, gbc, etc) than sory bro, shoulda done a bit more research. If your looking for sound, I find that some games play better with sound in osnes .2. Put sound to 11khz, stereo off, and some oter tweaks and there will be a good speed jump.

Unlike the GBA, the colour is always red, it dosnt change colour if the battery is full/empty

hey i am greatfull for what they have done, only that the friends that i buyed this gp32 told me that games run 90% fullspeed and good sound, and its not like that. Im not blaming the creaters of something this cool, only my "friend" for telling me lies. Maybe Zodiac is a better choise for me?

try messing around with the settings, put fs 2, clock to as high as u can.

I can play :

* Mario allstars 100% no sound
* Mario Kart 85% no sound
*Mario 100% no sound. Near full speed with sound.
*Lemmings full speed no sound

all at 156.

You might have guessed im not bothered about sound. but tbh, i never treid most of my games with sound

cool

i have downloaded 0.3 beta but they say that i shall delete OS9xgp.cfg, why is that? some games work 100% speed but the sound is not coming...

i think the snes emu is ok for the moment.
maybe he will be better soon but i don't know. i have time.
the snes emu is not all. i still like the pc-engine emu, genesis emu, sms emu, nes emu and gb emu as much as the snes emu because sometimes its much more fun to play a fast round donkey kong on the nes than playing a rpg on the snes.
yes!! ;)

ye but when i start a game in 0.3 beta it say befor starting that i must delete OS9xgp.cfg, after it just starts the game 100% perfekt but without sound

i dont use it couse i cant see it... but GP32 still wants me to delete that file... and now i have another problem, i went back to 0.2 just to check its allright.. but its not!! 10 sec after i start a game it went back to intro screen! the same with all games i have... this is spooky, i think my gp32 dont want me to play it :S

hmm? don't have this problems. i haven't delated the cfg file before i've started v.0.3 beta. i've no problems. and when i'm chosing a game there is a info screen where you can read that the cfg files was found.
what i found queer is that the loading time is a bit longer than in the version before.
e.g. when you pressing select for the gui then there is first a info screen where you can read that the ram was saved or i don't know....
in v.0.2 there wasn't a break between it.
the sound dosn't (what do i have to say?:sough, noise or brawl?)anymore but now there is a squacked noise e.g. when mario is jumping. that wasn't too in v.0.2 but anyhow the latest version is the best version up to now. :)

YAY! IT works now! This is very good, i played Secre of Mana with sound and it worked 90% speed with sound! But i get that clicking sound... it says that the clicking sound was removed in ver 0.3 beta but i can hear it, its even higher clicks then in 0.2 for me.... maybe my soundcard(?) is broken? couse every game i play there is that enoying sound clicks :( if i can remove that sound i can play every rpg game with no problem :D

I have the same clicking problem. Ive tried changing every sound setting to remove it but unfortunately it doesnt help. I changed clock speeds and it seems to come out worse at 166Mhz than any other speed but at 156 its the same as at 133 a clicking every few seconds. Maybe the release meant to say "Didnt fix the clicking", but this is the kind of problem betas are for =) Ill be very happy if yoyo can find time to code in a few months and can take a look at the problem, if not I can still play almost full speed with clicking(or even just turn the sound off for a few games but I couldnt bring myself to play FF6 without sound on cause thats one of the greatest things in the game).
