I've seen a kind of cool computer-system about 11 years ago. It could play some nice games that I'd like to play now and I ask myself, what exactly it was. It could have been a PC, C64, Amiga or even something completely different. I hope some of you can tell me what it was according to the few facts I remember about it... ;)

Here is all the stuff I remember:
- It had a color-monitor, keyboard
- It had an applications launcher with a blue BG and white letters. Actually, I don't know if it was the OS or a launcher of some kind.
- The games that it ran included Doom and MortalKombat3
- There also was some Basic-esque coding language included.
- The monitor resolution was about the same as in the BIOS-config of todays PCs
- It was definitively before 1996, probably around 1994

I know it's not much, but any help would be appreciated. :D

what country are you from? the blue and white file launcher you described sounds like workbench 1.3 an amiga version of windows... sounds like an amiga... not sure about doom or mortal kombat 3 though.

Acorn Archimedes?

I'd love to get an amulator of that machine working, just to play Zarch!
Zarch is better know as Virus - an incredible game for the ST and Amiga by David Braben (of Elite fame).

I never played it on the Acord but the screenshots looked way better than the ST/Amiga versions.

Anyone got an Archimedes emu working?

hmm Im not sure but amiga 500 was realased in 1990, but it was the only os with a blue bg and white letters (i think that it could be workbench 1.3.3 And ive played MK3 and doom on it ;)

No, you're wrong. The A500 was released in 1987, and there wasn't a doom for it. I think there wasn't even MK3 for it, only MK2, as far as i remember. The first doom-style game for the Amiga was "Gloom" running on faster AGA machines only, IIRC.

The first doom style engine was 'legend of valour' for the A500 and A1200, came out about 1991, then updated for the A1200 later on. It was an RPG, but had okish doomstyle graphics. Runs on Castaway too, check it out :)

And I think it was the A500+ that was released in 1990...

As for an Archie emu... the Archie was basically an ARM with no custom chips....so I don't see why not.
