I searched and couldn't find this. One of the main things I want to do with my Pyra is use it to dump the contents of my SD cards from my actioncams and cameras to an SSD in a USB 3.0 case. Right now my PC maxes out my SD cards and transfers data from them to my SSD at about 88-90 MB/s. I was just wondering how fast the Pyra could do it?

My Pandora gets about 14 MB/s with the same SD cards and SSD, understandably because the limitations of the SD slot and USB 2.0. I'll use the Pandora on my bike tour if I don't get my Pyra in time, and it works, but it would be nice if the Pyra was faster at this task. I know it isn't done yet and won't know the exact speed until after release but with the hardware could it max out my SD cards?

That was actually (more or less) the first question I asked when I got an account here: Link.

As long as your SD cards don't support UHS-II and you don't have a cardreader that does, too, you won't get much higher speed. Maybe a couple MB/s more, but not much. And UHS-II cards cost a fortune...

What card are you using?

The ones I ended up getting are Samsung Pro+, the black and white ones. I have been ripped off on cards before so I bought them directly off of Samsung's site, they were only like $10 more than Amazon but they work as advertised. They don't sell the ones I own anymore because they changed their entire line because upgraded them, but they still have 90 MB/s cards for the same price. They're green now, can't remember what they're called. I'll never get SD cards unless they are direct from the manufactures' site, it is worth the extra cost to make sure they are genuine.

The eMMC channel is capable of SDR104. That means about 100MB/s for compatible SDXC cards and 200MB/s for eMMC. The actual speed would depend on the capabilities of the cards themselves, and that's the max theoretical so we can't really say what it will be practically.

The large SD cards are SDR50, double the theoretical max of the Pandora, so expect at least 32MB/s for high speed cards, upwards of 50MB/s.

Ah beans, oh well, it is still WAY faster than the Pandora, well, around 4x. Still will save on batter life when moving 128 GB from a full card to a SSD
