Seeing as this is my 1000th post (has taken me a year and one month-ish to reach)
I decided to celebrate with something special.

Seeing as it's my favourite game of all time, and a damn good one to ALOT of people, I thought a thread discussing the games finer points, rumours and secrets would be nice.

So FF VII fans....discuss!

wut if u hate it

but i can and i do

look for a topic called most horrible games of all time by generalmx.

I have a ps1 and 2 but dont like the series

I hate zelda and I never played anything but the first NES one. I've tried the others, but as I havent owned a nintendo system in a real long time so I've never gotten into Zelda when I was a kid, and now I think I'm too old for them anyway. Its the same way with non playstation owners and FF7. Thats why many (not all) people hate it

yeah the mods were good but I sent it all the way back in march when mashmods had like never even gotten a send in before so the service was practically instant. All I had to wait for was shipping

ffVII is my greatest gaming experience to date... however: you REALLY should know that it became so popular because it was only 75% complete ^^ there's a great FAQ on gamefaqs on that, and when I read it I realised that was the reason why I liked the game so much :) I suggest you ppl read it too

the thing is with OTHER final fantasies to me, is that they bring you a story which they finish. there haven't been that much final fantasy-games that had open endings (haven't finished X yet though, still working on that, so can't judge for that game), there always was a finished story.

SPOILERS:

On top of that: the story was full of plotholes (like: the scene at the end of disc 1, that wasn't Sephiroth but Jenova. but why would jenova do such a thing? or the flashback with Cloud and Zack, where in time can that possibly have happened? BEFORE or AFTER the Sephiroth flashback at Nibelheim (really, think about it, Zack could only become a SOLDIER when implemented with Mako, however he escaped with Cloud after they had been mako implemented, but where in time does that place the whole Nibelheim flashback? the only possibility I could imagine was that Zack was implemented twice, but that's kind of rubbish), how did Cloud survive the whole Sephiroth stab thingy, ...

and that's the stuff I like: the game leaves certain things to the player: you should figure some things out yourself. And that's how you can enjoy that game over and over and still discover new stuff :)

the other final fantasies are way to simple at that subject, EVERYTHING is explained, there's no more room for an own though. that's also why I always like the first half of the storyline in a ff game the best :) (gameplay is better in the last half though ;))

FFVII was a damn good game :) I only completed it once but seeing Red XIII at the end was cool. I think the movie industry should take some pointers from some of these games (not just FF) since the stories and plots are far richer than anything I've seen lately.

My fave place was that amusement park with the submarine and bike games.

I finished it like 3 times got quite a good time third time round cant remem what it was though
Best game ever!

Jenova is only hinted at but we can safely assume (s)he's part of an alien race who is actively at war with the Ancients. Aeris was the last Ancient alive on the Planet, so you can kind of see his motivation.

The game was class but I'm only remembering the good bits; there was a lot of boring stuff too like Disc 2/Cloud's Mind/Nebelheim scene. I completed it once then played again and got as far as out of Midgar (that takes long enough...) but then somehow lost the save file (d'oh!). Not really inclinded to play the goddamn Midgar scenes again :(

that's what I really like about the game: "you can KIND OF see it", but it's not spoken nor mentioned, you're supposed to figure it out :)

SPOILERS (ffIX):

if they had hinted that Zidane was from a different world, it woul've been way better. If they had hinted his return but not had "the masked version" take off his cloak at the ending sequence, it would've been way better, ...

same thing goes for ffVIII and almost all of the others (although 6 was okay, I believe)

you know what else I thought was genious in the ending sequence? The last thing you heard in the REDXIII movie, was children's laughter :) I loved that ;)

The biggest attempt to fill a plot hole in the game is the inclusion of a letter you can find on a desk in nibelhiem which is from hojo congratulating all of the towns actors for doing such a good cover up job.

Has anyone tried the Developers menu yet?....that was my most interesting find of 2002 (seeing as I'd fully completed the game I never felt it necassary to look up secrets on the net, and so never found it until late when I read up on it by accident)

I presume you know what the developers/debug menu is, if you don't then oh boy are you in for a treat.

Has anyone got FF VII international? The 4th disc is definately worth checking out.
