Wasn't able to find any information on this, except maybe in sam_fisher's thread...and we all know how reliable he is :D

Anyway, my BLU has a flicker (one line that jumps to the right and left) on the left side of the screen. I can easily see it when viewing stuff with a very light background, and cannot notice it with dark backgrounds. I can see it in Pacrom the easiest, ,and I can't notice the same effect with my FLU (which I still own). Is this normal?

I think Sam was referring to an effect that I get on the snes emulator:

This is where several times a second vertical lines on the screen display appear and dissapear like tiny tares - It gets worse as you up the clock speed (but thats obviously just 'cos the emu is running faster)

I haven't noticed it in any other emu and it does not appear to be doing my blu any harm as I have spent hours running snes games @166 ('cos my old blu can't clock that high!) and after a while you just don't notice it. It is surprisingly most noticeable on dark backgrounds.

But this is completely different to the flicker that you seem to be describing - I haven't heard of one column of pixels moving back and forth like that before ...

Does this happen on all BLU's?

Cause im getting one in the next week or two (*loud gasps from gp32x*)

My non-flu has the kind of flicker you describe with pacrom (I can mainly spot it in the title bar in the middle of the p in gp:\). The whole title bar also has a slight flicker if you get it in the right light. In pacrom it's caused by the low clock speed it runs at. I had the same problem with edgepad when I tried to clock it below 33mhz. I could barely see the flicker until I added the background image (which is quite grainy) so I had to clock back up to 33mhz again :(

Hmm, it's possible that because I usually kept the light off with the FLU because of the loss of quality, I never noticed it. When the light is on with the FLU, it would be easy to miss because of the wash out effect. The BLU's quality is so amazing with the light on, I can see every little detail. I attributed not noticing it with the other emulators because they usually use black backgrounds on the left side of the screen (OpenSNES9x has a bug where the background changes as you progress through a game).

If I plug in a modified power supply then i get the same effect only much much worse. Modified in that I cut the wire and tied it back to together to change the polarity. Not sure why yours is happening all the time.

The flickering you get when you plug in your power supply is caused by the power supply NOT being regulated..

A non regulated ps generates a unstable 50hz powerflow, this causes the power in your gp32 to fluctuate, so the lcd gets more and less power several times (50) per second. this cause the flickering.

Get a regulated one. (i got one for €6.50)

hmm, your right, when i look closely in the snes emu i can see some flicker.

But it doesn't affect the gameplay very much.
