i bought this printer today and it has one of those little slots for SMC. everything seems to work but when i try to write to the SMC card or delete anything off it says its write protected and that i should remove the write protection. anyone know what to do?

It may be faulty. You can wrote protect SMCs by putting a round silver sticker on the front in a specific place. If you aint got this on there, then either the smc or writer is faulty.

The ones that come attached to printers are on almost all occasions (i mean only 1 off them isn't) card readers and not writers

I work in a shop that stocks about 10 different sorts and I sell em very week

Mine is a reader/writer, and it's on an epson printer.

To be honest, I found the reverse to be true - i.e. almost all of the card readers built into printers will also write.

Mostly, they get detected as mass storage devices and appear as extra drives in my computer.

ohh, most people complain coz they couldn't write onto their cards

mite've got it wrong since they neglect to train u where I work, they just stick u on the shop floor on ure first day
