Internet Browsers

Yup, for lazy people like me who are too tired to move the mouse to the back button while surfing after work ;)

Opera user here... banner vwersion, and thinking of buying the thing sometime when I've got money to do so - thinking about it, its probably the program IU've run most on my machine ever, bar Windows, so that kiind of makes it worth buying.

Idd... insofar as getting it to open IE only pages, you can often fix them by changing how opera identifies and refreshing; if its set to Opera, change it to IE, and vice versa - the difference can be staggering. At least on Opera 7, it is.

I have to admit I haven't actually tried Firefox, though I hear good things about it. Mainly, that'd be because I like the Opera mail client (its simple, and it doesn't do any auto-executing; what more can I ask?) and I can't be bothered to transfer all my accounts across if I actually like the thing.

I agree with Mozilla not liking some websites though.

Some sites that have been 'optimised for IE 6' or whatever usually don't work. I believe the Odeon Cinema UK page is one of them. Gaiaonline does too, when you create your avatar the buttons don't work because it disagrees with the javascript.

Show me one.
Thanks for the laugh.

Do you realise how many coders write for the 99% of users who use IE? Half the5k.org's competition entries (Mozilla doesn't support document.all in Javascript), most online banking services and music stores, any site that utilises ActiveX, a bunch of annoying sites who block non-IE sites on principle (and don't tell me to change my user-agent, because that doesn't get around the issue for anyone without technical literacy).

But I know that my hearsay evidence isn't enough. Therefore:

Pity really, since Firefox/Mozilla is just so much better that I really don't want to use IE for anything.

This is the weirdest thing. I know you can get tabbed browsing versions of IE and all that jazz, but I still... can't bring myself to use them :p I guess the open-source factor, stability and security stops me. Still, anyone using Avant or MyIE2 still gets props in my book for not just accepting the standard, limited IE experience.

In my case I'm the internet for up to 5 hours a day (research, lack of sleep, etc.) so getting the best tool for the job really counts.

SlimBrowser flashpeak.com, another browser using the IE kernel. Uses tabbed browsing and built-in ad-blocking. Fully integrated with original IE settings. I haven't had problems with it since I switched aside from ad-aware shutting it down if it comes across something it doesn't like. But if it gets shut down, all I have to do is start it again and click on 'Restore sites open in last session'. It reopens all the tabs I had open last time it saved (which is does regularly and automatically). It even works after a reboot.

I know, if only MS would get a clue when it comes to licensing their software...

I really like Firefox. First of all, it's not IE, which gives me a warm fuzzy feeling inside knowing that Microsoft does not control the world. Secondly most sites work with Firefox, and the ones that don't might not even work in Opera. Plus, I like having all of Firefox's options. As for the screen flickering thing, maybe you should get a new computer, or check the power supply. ;)

No...
as I told, I'm only that lazy when I come back from work and surf a bit on the internet.

I'm lying in my massage chair and have thr right hand on my mouse.
To reach the keyboard, I couldn't lie comfortable in my chair anymore... so that's why I LOOOVE mouse gestures :)

As for your left hand... they don't call it a 'massage chair' for nothing!
