Head to www.speccyal.be to download the latest release. This will not be updated again before a long time because starting from now I'll be on another gp32 project.

What's new :

- Sound is now almost "perfect" in most cases. No more background noise, and sound speed is correct.
- Added a FPS limiter (a side effect is that music which was playing too quickly in some games menus is now playing at the correct speed, e.g. Silkworm)
- CPU speed lowered from 132 mhz to 110mhz
- Optimized rendering
- Bug fixed: a crash was previously occuring while loading a 128k "Z80" or "SLT" snaphsot in 48k mode
- A fourth joystick emulation has been added, "User defined". If user selects this emulation, all defined keys will be used. The user-defined keys are located in the options screen, in the "misc." section.
- Added a line by line rendering. This is slighty slower that the Fast Rendering mode, but if some games are exhibiting sprite flickering, select the line by line rendering, this should fix the problem. In most cases, the fast rendering option should be left on the "on" position.
- Bug fixed: while loading snapshots, the screen border color was not set. This is now ok.
- The file browser only shows the compatible files (sna,z80,tap,slt,scr)
- Added a "frameskip" option. It should help speed up the emulator a lot in some games. This option only works in "fast rendering" mode as of now.

Hope you will have fun with it !

Please don't hesitate to leave me some feedback. I like to know what you like/dislike, and if you encountered any bugs.

Thanks rlyey ;)

For the 48k sound, I have noticed one problem with "nebulus", there's no sound anymore ! Very strange ... as for the other games I have, they are all sounding correct (haven't tried the other thousands of games  ).

All im getting when i run it is 2 little white dots, nothing else happens

and on my m8s machine its just reseting it.

running the file from the GPMM and the 2 roms are in there... and were not using any dodgy bios, just the original

i'm having problems with it resetting my machine too.

just tried wizball and it loads, i set to interface2 in the emu then select the corect menu number from the menu for int2. i get a redefine keys screen which i do and the gp32 reboots.

Similar on brucelee too which worked on the last version.

Motos which worked fine previously runs for about a minute then reboots the gp32.
Zynaps does the same as motos.

i am using *brand new* batteries

dam shame i was looking forward to a new release of this.....
it loads to a black screen with a white dot and then thats it :(

ah well close ;)

Another of my m8s tried it and got it to load, dunno if he tried any games but got further than we could :(

Weird

I'm just getting a black screen with a vertical white line about a third of the way across.

I'm busy right now, seeing how I can fix the problem but one thing is sure, it won't be easy.
I hope I'll be able to quickly find a solution for this annoying bug.
Sorry again !

Shame - really looking forward to testing the latest version. I have no firmware upgrade on my machine, just a vanilla GP32 out of the box with the Freelauncher and so on, if that makes any difference.

I have exactly the same setting as you - plain vanilla gp32 without any extra features.

I'm going to put another version on the site soon, at first sight the version I have given to test by someone who had a similar problem is somewhat stabler.

Tell me how it's running for you.

Unless I misunderstood you - just downloaded the emulation again and it's version 0.1...?

Right, downloaded 0.3 again. Er, crashes the GP32, but this time it does boot the bios and gets to the Sinclair Reseach bit, then crashes. But no white line on a black screen...

asterix when you say crashes, in what way - does it reboot the gp32 or just go to a black screen?

if its the black screen have you tried pressing left shoulder button to bring up the menu?

let us know

J

Sorry, yes - it crashes the console and returns to the GP32 bootup animation. Didn't first time - there was a black screen with a white line down it (but couldn't bring up any menus etc).

I've used 0.2 extensively, and I think it's fantastic, but this version just refuses to work.

One thing I did think of though on the way to work this morning: could it have something to do with any config files left over from 0.2? I noticed that 0.2 remembers whether you've set the emulator to 48k or 128k mode (or at least I think it does) - would that have anything to do with 0.3 not working?

Alex

yes, Maybe you could try to remove the "SPECCYAL.INI" file located in the GPMM directory and see how it reacts. But I fear
that the problem's not lying there unfortunately ...

I've forgotten to bring the machine to work, sadly, so I can't test it until I get home, but I will do. Hope it makes a difference.

=)
