I am buying a GP32 and thought that I would be able to encode movies on my Mac for it. However I have now found out that it doesn't read standard DVIX files and must have a special format. All of the utilties appear to be for PC.

Is there any way I can do this on a Mac?

Macs....suck <_<

I spent four hours last night trying to compress a movie created in Imovie, seven minutes long and it exported it as a 2.2 GIG :)o)

I've got an iMac 17 inch 1ghz 256 meg.

Divx is no good - wrong codec

I've got ffmpegX but didn't realise that Xvid was supposed to work. Has anyone actually tried Xvid movies on GP32?

yup, xvid works fine, but, but they recommend a certain build on the gpcinema site, i hope the mac build will work for you...

Hey -

Spent some quality time with the developers of the ultimate Mac/Divx proggie,
FortyTwo DVD VX Pro here:

Still doesn't work for GP32 -> but they are working on it.
This would be the slickest/easiest/quickest way IMHO.

I did have success using Virtual Dub under Virtual PC 5.x under Mac OS x.3.3
Follow these instructions & bingo !
(I know, it's long & hard & filled with hoops to jump through)

Too, I also dorked with FFMPEG & D-vision2.2 --> No dice !
I "think" that divx 4.12 & custom xvid codec aren't well supported with current Mac encoders.
(Even thought they sit on top of unix mencoder)

meh.

Hey hugofurst,

Thanks for the info - looks like Virtual PC for me.

Cheers.

i tried ffmpegx divx on a simpsons episode and it didnt work.. Did anyone actually try the xvid encoding ?

I have virtual pc 6 with win2k but something mac native would make life much better.
