Gigadrive Play List

Pirates! GOLD doesn't seem to work  :(

I has the strangest bug - if you touch ANY button (also d-pad) it resets.
However if you let the game run without touching any thing, it will run a demo showing pretty much every part of the game (sea travel, sea battle, town-screen, sword duel, map, ship spotted), pretty much without any glitches... that matters anyway. On GenEmu it ran, but didn't display important elements(the ship).

Doesn't run on Fgen.

Edit:
@ kotd - think your post was cut short mid-Ultimate Mortal Kombat... No verdict  ;)

Hi all,
As always, I'm after games which are (1) simple, early title from say 1988 or 89, like Sonic and Mickey Mouse, no raster effects like Road Rash but (2) fail very early on, within the first second or so, without having to even touch the joypad.

Why? Well these games are very easy to spot the bugs - you only have to run Cyclone for a few frames before the reason for the failure is clear.
Note that just because I'm (for example) looking at game A, doesn't mean I'm neglecting game B (e.g. Road Rash) - they should (fingered crossed) be the same bugs causing some of the same problems. it just that they are easiler to track down in game A.

Examples of games I am interested in? Well, Sonic 3 before the last version was an absolutely perfect game to try and fix - only took an hour at most. Within about 11 frames the game encountered a missing opcode, added the opcode an fixed it.

Sonic 3D same deal for the same reason, and Shadow of the Beast: the second intro screen after barely a second, with no keypresses needed, was corrupted. Fixed that fine.

So what do you reckon, for the latest version of Gigadrive (0.019) is the simplest game which fails earliest with no joypad input? And I'll try and work on that tonight!

Phantasy Star 3 has the window bug as soon as the intro starts (within a few seconds after the logo is displayed)

Phantasy Star 3 is fairly good yes (there's a problem with the title fade in, with no joypad input). I'll try that if there is nothing else, but that takes about 10 seconds or so to get to that point.

But also PS3 is quite bad to test because I think there are complications. For example the games uses SRAM, and probably VRAM copy. I have a feeling the window problem may not be Cyclone related.

Presumably there another game which fails earlier than 10 seconds in, and is simpler than PS3?

Um, don't know if this qualifies, but Starflight is goofy; any input (like name entry, etc) is garbled, with bits of the background showing through where the letters should be ...

No - if I recall correctly, Starflight's menu is a VRam copy issue - not related to Cyclone. In fact that means it may work fine in fGen32 :)

Maybe it's just the case that there are no 'simple' Cyclone bugs left, it's only the more complicated ones after a few seconds of gameplay.

Great work fdave! Here are a few of my findings with the latest version...

Games working very well

Cannon Fodder B)
Crackdown
Klax
Marble Madness
Pac-Attack

Games with problems

Gauntlet and Gauntlet 4- Does not go past the main splash screen.

Sensible Soccer- All the menus seem to work fine. However, when it actually comes to starting a match the game freezes.

Street Fighter II- Crashes after the 'Versus' screen.

Mercs- Status bar, score, health meter etc appear to be missing

Zombies Ate My Neighbours- Status bar, score, health meter etc appear to be missing.

Bart Vs. The Space Mutants- Only the front end works. When the player presses 'start' the game restarts.

Desert Strike- Freezes on the first 'Mission Briefing' screen.

Raiden- Status bar, score, health meter etc appear to be missing.

Yes, James Pond 3 and Dune 2 both fail by the logo. James Pond 3 has some flicker bug at the very first frame as well.

You can use my compatiblity site if you like. It seems like a pain to use the forum to scroll down and find certain games, etc (unless someone faithfully updates the first post.). To each his own I guess. (See Sig) There are already more than 40 titles entered on the Gigadrive compatibility list.

It can't handle Quackshot and that is all I am interested in right now :(

Why not - Quackshot seemed to work on mine.... I just fixed it.

By the way, does anyone have a thing whereby you play Ghouls or Rolling Thunder for a few seconds and then the GP32 just locks up? Or is that just me?

It's freaking me out :p

Michael jacksons moonwalker locks up on the sega intro. Chanpionship pro am resets the GP32 ;)

Sonic 3D - Works fine, except it seems a little slow.]
Sonic 3 - Runs fine, except some of the graphics are too bright.

GODS by the bitmap brothers resets after you press the Start game option. Title screens seem to work except that you get these 1 or two pixel grid dots all through the intro pics.

Quackshot seems to work in some ways however it is like PC Kid on GP engine- you can't see the main character.

But I just fixed that... can anyone else confirm Donald is still invisible?
