I just bought retro gamer. many, many roms. Oh yey.

One problem -what's teh best GP32 emulator for each of these systems, and where can I get them?

Amstrad (is there any?)
Atari ST (again, is there any?)
BBC Micro (once again, I'm not sure there is one)
Commodore16
Commodore64
Spectrum

Thanks for any replies...

I'd love to see a BBC Emu for GP32 as well. In that same issue of Retro Gamer, it mentions ARM architecture as part of the BBC Micro, does this mean an EMU would be easier to put together?

Not sure who would bother though, as the Beeb wasn't really known for the games and it isn't a system to excite people like the SNES & GBA etc do!

I need to play Premier Managewr on the GP32... And footballer of teh year.

I think a chatboard thing is in order...

for anyone who has the Gremlin retro gamer CD, I have put together a list of all the C64 games that work with GPFrodo - about half of them actually work. If anyone would like to know whic, let me know and I'll post my findings

The BBC was 6502 based (same as the C64) - it was the Archimedes (which came after it) which was the first ARM based microcomputer. A direct ancestor of the chip in our GP32 I believe...

Now an archimedes emulator would be pretty awesome....

... and before anyone jumps down my throat, I know they ran at 33MHz of something so an emulator would be extremely unlikely... B)

You're kidding aren't you - the Beeb had the original versions of Elite and Exile (amazing considering the memory limitations) and some perfect arcade conversions along with some fantastic original games like Freefall, Avaiator, Ravenskull, etc.

Definitely worth emulating (please)...

Hey, Gruntfuggly, don't get me wrong, I want to see BBC emulation (I have 2 of the machines at home), I just meant that most of the people here are pretty much geared towards SNES & GBA etc, so a Beeb Emu wouldn't excite them, and I guess a potential project has to excite people if it's to get off the ground...

...I have fond memories of gaming on the BBC, there was one game in particular which I would give my eye teeth to track down, all I can remember is that it was a horizontal scrolling shhot em up thing and you had to press shift to drop bombs, I think it began with C, maybe "Challenge" something...

...anyway, I digress, yes I thought that the ARM thing would be a link between the two machines - anyone else want to see a Beeb Emu?

Rlyeh is working on a Amstrad CPC emulator - fCPC. Its in alpha stage right now.
Be patient as hes 100% on fGen right now which to most people here also is of somewhat a higher priority (cant blame em!)

Speccyal soon and CastAway already supports it.

Would be nice if Frodo did, but I wouldnt go expecting it.
Besides, its virtual keyboard is cool.

no man, you don't desperately need a chatboard, pretty much all the games work fine with the gp32 controls.

Anyway here's a list of all the Gremlin C64 games that work from the cover CD on Retro Gamer 3:

bulldog.d64
Butcher Hill.d64
dark_fusion.d64
deflektor.d64
hercules_slayer_of_the_damned.t64
hero_quest.d64
lotus_esprit_turbo_challenge.d64
mask.d64
mask3.d64
metabolis.t64
MICKEYM.T64
MONTMOLE.D64
north_star.prg
potty_pigeon.d64
roy_of_the_rovers.d64
sk8crazy.d64
suicide_express.t64
super_sports.d64
switchblade.t64
thing2.d64
thing_on_a_spring.d64
trailblazer2.t64

the ones you should try (my favourites) are:

Deflektor - original puzzle game, one of my faves
Dark Fusion - takes a bit of getting into but it's a great looking and well crafted game - oh and it's HARD
MontyMole - Classic!
Mickey Mouse - Kinda bizzare but interesting and fun
Potty Pigeon - fly around and shit on cars for points...
Suicide Express - out of control futuristic locomotions
Switchblade - a bit bland but a nice platformer
Thing on a Spring - Classic!

Did I miss any?

Rocket Raid or Moon Raider? which were both scramble clones, although I think it was the Tab key for bomb in those...

Can you remember anything else about it?
