Why no 3rd party games

It blows the doors off of the GBA, but for the life of me I cannot figure out why not that many companys want to develope anything for this system. I could only imagine what kind of RPG squaresoft could make with a 128mb smartmedia card as the memory. The graphics are far better than anything i've seen so far on GBA, except for Iridion II, that game just rocks, and yet this systems been out for how long now? And there's just a handfull of games? Am I missing something, is there some place I can go, IN ENGLISH, that explains the history of the GP32. I'm really interested on how this system was born. The answer is probably very simple but i just can't see it now. Hopefully the European release will bring in more developers, but somehow, i don't think it will. :)

Well, as far as I know, Gamepark is, for one thing, an upstart company. And I don't think they're very public either. So third-party companies getting wind of this console is kind of diffcult. Gamepark is a very small company with a questionable history (being that there is very little of it), so for a third-party to take such a chance on a system like this is something that most companies don't want to do. Yes, I know, it has built up a decent reputation by now, but it is still not a handheld for everyone. The Nintendo Gameboy market is primarily 6-13 or so. The main market for the GP32 is about 15+. And it's still not considered a high-selling console in any way. There was supposed to be a Megaman game developed by Capcom, but that was stopped.

But personally, I like the development scene built by the lack of such commercial games for the GP32. The Doom port is one of my favorites. I enjoy what has been developed by other GP32 users since I've bought mine. And I don't see a problem with it having few commercial games.

Why no 3rd party games:

#1, user base is too small.

#2, copy protection too easily defeated.

#3, market is flooded with free software.

Just a guess.

I'm not sure I agree with flack, after all, the PC has all of those things, yet still remains a viable gaming platform.

Same deal with the new tapwave handheld, its open, and will soon be flooded with free software, and copy protection is never an issue, as it is ALWAYS defeated.

User base is small, but thats nothing some marketing will fix. It has got all positive reviews in gaming mags, I havnt seen any negative press for the GP32 yet, look at the n-gay, everyone hates it. I havnt seen ONE SINGLE PERSON WHO LIKES THE N-GAGE, ANYWHERE.

IGN hated it, but then again, IGN is ass backwards.
