anyone in the project or considering being in the project or just curious about it or possibly if youve just clicked on the topic for no apparent reason, please read this.

::FYI::

The original Community Game Project thread

whitestripes44 started the Community Game Project. i did not.

hando is going to make a sub-forum for the game as soon as i reply to his PM. i am going to ask for two, one for the storyline, which will be private so it wont be spoiled for anyone, and another for everthing else. once youre in the CGP and part of the storyline crew you will gain access to the storyline forum.

I and Evildragon will be moderating the two forums. i am considering gp32animefreak as an extra mod for the storyline forum, but only if he is needed.

i gave the job of Coordinator to Evildragon. i hope he isnt too strict.

yes, Evildragon is the coordinator. but i am still project leader. why? because there are some important managementy decisions that need to be made.

the CGP will NOT be sold. i said i would make a poll on it, but well.. no. it is going to be open-source freeware. the open-source part is up for debate, but this game must stay freeware. ( <-- see? an important managementy decision! )

even if youre not in a certain sub-group, or part of the CGP at all, you may still add comments and suggestions.

VERY IMPORTANT: i hardly ever check my email. if you want to contact me, use the PM system here.

When you PM someone, it may say "Mail Error". Do not worry, your mail got through anyway.

any questions? :D

Am I counted as a programmer for the project if I am just making AI? And if I am does that mean I get access to the storyline fourms?

yes. you count. no. you do not get access to the storyline forum.

if everyone in the CGP got access to the storyline forum, im sure there would be some spoilers released accidentally. thats why its restricted to storyline members only.

when the storyline gets a character update or technical issue, it will be posted in the other CGP forum.

Ah, well, sorry to confuse the persons who started the community project.

I try not to be too strict, I usually am not. I just try to keep things running :)

I gave myself to job to write some dialogs, I mainly meant the random things townspeople say, I guess that would go under the storyline group, wouldn´t it?

So all I would need to start working is a list of towns and an approximation of the amount of townspeople, as well as some characteristics for each town (mainly how they speak like if they speek like pirates or use old english, and other things that might influence what types of things they probably will say, if they are religious for example)

Count on me to move all the CGP threads to the relevant forums once they are created, if hando doesn't do it himself.

Errm, no, that goes under dialogue group ;)
Naturally... and the sprites for the main character goes in the Grapichs/Sprites/Characters/Playable/MainCharachter-group
:p

Delsabre dont forget I also moderate the storyline section(I am writing it you know  , Of coarse its based on everyones idea's just mixed with the rest,FYI i did call it first)

No more people for the storyline, SO STOP PM'ing ME!!!

What about the Art section????

How is it possible to restricted other users from going to the story line section???

alright, i finally return back to these forms, and i gotta say..

EXCELLENT WORK GUYS!!!!!!

wow, im extremely impressed how well this is working! Delsabre, you are doing a kickass job leading this project, and everyone else is doing their part. I am not aware if a site has been made for this project yet, but just give me teh word and I'll set one up (unfortunately, I don't know how to make a News format site, like PHP or CGI or whatever it is, only regular HTML with Dreamweaver. But I'm not bad at it).

This has potential. Keep it up everyone: just by being active we are insuring the success of this handheld and this scene, and that is invaluable.

To add some more:

How is the technical aspect of the project progressing? Have we gotten a sprite to move around the scene? If so, I think our next landmark is to implant a primitive, generic tile engine into the game that can be heavily upgraded. The only real requirements right now of it should be that it is able to read and create maps (maybe using iMappy) and that bumpmapping be in place for trees, buildings, etc.

The step after would be to animate other sprites on screen, and give them AI sequences.

Then, we would implant an on screen interface.

Next, entering buildings and conversation.

A menu system

A battle system.

An overlord map type system/ linking of different maps.

Then perfect all the previous features.

This sound good?

An important consideration for this game is that it should be very flexible, in that it should allow for different modes (navigation, conversation, cutscene, battle, menu), accept external files that detail maps and missions, and be well commented and easily used.

This project should, in its final state, resemble something of RPG Maker, but a little less open. A byproduct of a well designed RPGsystem is usually expandibilty.

Well, im out for now.
