i've looked on google and apparently you enter a code into it but it says i have to pay for them (which i really dont want to do) pleeeeeeeeeeease help :)

Well, you have to, otherwise, it's illegal, and we don't support illegal stuff here :)

should be illegal for them to lock it and its gotta be illegal for some little git chargin £20 for a code to put into your phone to make it so that u can use the sim card that you've already got instead of using there disgraceful network (3g)

Well, there's a REASON they do this.
You buy mobiles for 10 Euro with PrePaid card instead of paying 100 Euro or so.

That's because the provider sponsors the mobile phone but locks it, so you have to use your prepaid card for the next two years (after that unlocking is free!)

So, if you want to use it for anything different than your prepaid card, the providers would lose lots of money, so they need to charge the unlocking.

It's that easy.
