I reject your reality and substitute my own
If I tick the "save session for future logins" when shutting down/logging out in Xfce then the system does not log out.
If I again a logout (menu) then it say's "failed to receive a reply from the session manager"
Even a "sudo shutdown now" does not goes all the way (got stuck on blinking cursor in the left upper corner).
Tested with no user apps running, so it not a app that hangs or blocks the logout, if I logout (after reboot) without ticking this , it works like a charm.
Anyone any idea where Xfce actually tries to save this list? Might be a silly permission problem or so.
