There arent any personal insults there.
 Errr :

You are repeating lies without any foundation in reality.
So telling someone is a lier is not an insult anymore ? Also telling someone doesnt have a foot in reality can be realy offensive...
Beside telling someone he cant understand nor write correct english while your ability to understand english is sub-par and your wall of text are barely inteligible is.... well... insulting too...

Please leave this thread alone

EDIT: Oh and I forgot, speaking of someone ideologies when having "camarade" in its nick is at best laughable

Difference is i always back it up. Have a look. If you dont want to be called out on it, dont do it. Rest assured, if you dont want to enter a discussion, you are effectivly following your own advice.

This both never happened, and has _nothing_ to do with the discussion. May I also suggest you hone your English skills before having a laugh at my expense?

"camarade" is french for "comrade". There's nothing wrong with that word, just like there's nothing wrong with marxism or socialism. But that is not really related to this thread, so let's not go there here.

I think we should adjust the forum software so that each person gets a certain number of square meters per day, and the font size of their posts is scaled (down) accordingly.

Asking him to take it out of his sig is really pathetic.
But that never happened...
It also states "GPL-compatible", in lieu of using the word free, in turn ending up with something that isnt the essence of free.

Imposing views on others is a douche move. No matter what side of the fence you are on. You assume a third position where you take things to mean something they don't. Suggesting you take that out of your sig.

There is nothing wrong with socialism when being applied to groups of 12 or fewer people in a survival situation (or other common cause). Otherwise that grand social experiment has utterly failed in every attempt at application. It has resulted in the most brutal and abusive totalitarian regimes that the planet has ever seen.

Isn't it related though?

Marxist/Socialist countries tend to immediately remove (or kill) journalists, intellectuals and anyone else who may put forward ideas or materials that may produce ideas that could conflict with the ideology. This control over speech (and thought) is seen as a primary means for them to stay in power. Censor and destroy any alternative thoughts.

In much the same way, the FSF/RYF has rules mandating exclusivity over what can be installed, advertised and talked about. The communal nature of FOSS is their rally cry, but their methodology has much more in common with totalitarian societies than I could ever feel comfortable with.

I'm not disagreeing with you, but...

has this particular statement just been posted from inside the USA?

The Irony would be grand.

Why? My state's Senator who's held office for three decades as a house representative and a senator for six years is a self-described socialist. Although most people in the US think we're a part of Canada.

EDIT: NVM.. I think I mis-understood what you thought was Ironic..  I think we in Vermont love voting in a socialist every year just to drive the conservatives nuts.

I think that's pretty cool actually. The more varied the voices the better off we all are. In a Republic (representative democracy) we rely on voices unaligned with parties in power to loudly shout BS when needed.

The advantage to a representative democracy is that, over the broad time frame, it is self-correcting. Yes, it swings broadly to what feel like extremes. Then people wake up and check a different box on the ballot and bring things back - usually through the center and back over to another extreme. In the process, though, the most extreme policies get axed and the net is a more centrist outcome.

'Socialism' might work if it were mandated by a democratic process. Unfortunately, it usually winds up becoming either a dictatorship or oligarchy that exists for the sole purpose of continuing it's existence.

This brings us around to the definitions of 'Country' and 'People'. In, 'Western' societies, the government is seen as an institution defined and owned by the people. In much of the self-proclaimed 'socialist' world, the people are seen as a resource, owned and utilized by the whims of the government.

A lot of pure theory here.
