I'm not sure I understood your question, and I'm a bit confused. I would guess that you are aware of the general idea behind an SSD, and thus know that the difference between SSD and HDD is largely invisible to the operating system -- or rather, since this question is more about a specific operating system than about SSDs, that this here is not exactly the best place to ask or search for information on this topic.
That being said, problems arise
when Windows is using an SSD as if it was an HDD, which Windows XP *is* doing since it was never taught to do otherwise. Other than that, with Windows versions < Vista, you should also particularly look into
partition alignment for Windows on SSDs,
disabling time stamping for 'last access', and/or the reasoning behind installing a software for manually invoking 'TRIM' commands.
Normally I don't see any sense in saying things like 'just use X instead, it's way better', but in this case I would actually suggest to look into upgrading to Windows 8 if you need Windows on the machine. Until the end of January, Microsoft is offering upgrades for users of Windows versions XP, Vista, and 7 for quite little money.
