Hi,

This may seem petty, but I'd rather not regret this later. :p

There is a spring in the base of the SD card slot; pushing down on the card causes it to popup for removal. Is there a risk of wearing out the spring if an SD card is left in the unit most of the time?

In a word No ;)

It'll be fine as stated in the last post. On a side note, out of every device I have ever owned that accepted an SD card, I can honestly say that the GP2X's SD slot (spring mechanism) feels the most solid. Very very well built!

Ohh, and if you are NOT using the latest firmware (v2.0) you will not want to leave that SD card in there. There is a bricking problem related to the earlier firmwares and booting up with the SD in place. If you ARE running the latest firmware, simply disregard what I just said! :)

I am, in fact, using firmware 2.0, installed for me by gp2x.co.uk.

Thanks for being so thorough!
