I am looking forward to this one. Anyone else?

Real keyboard - though I still wish they would stop doing 'delete' as a double wide trailer key and put Insert back in the 6 key cluster where it belongs too.

Assuming the electronics hardware is full modern spec with discrete graphics with Debian Linux compatibility and they don't price me out of the market, I'm in.

I just hope they don't get it 'wrong'.

I will read the blog in a bit. If things turn out well maybe I will be looking for a new laptop in a couple years (when these are cheap on the second-hand market).

The keyboard does look a bit weird in that blog - what with double high escape and delete, and insert shoved elsewhere. At least they didn't do their usual "We'll make you need the 'Fn' key to press F1-F12, by defaulting them to the media keys". They also decided not to hide mouse buttons inside the trackpad area, which is a "feature" I find incredibly frustrating.

I'm considering replacing my laptop, though I am probably going to consider something a little more gaming. I find it odd, that games that appear to be graphically "simple" (FTL and Convoy) seem to struggle on this laptop, so it must be something to do with the way they're made.

Thanks Lenovo...

So - pricing is out and you can pre-order one of these now. But - the price is HIGH for the spec. Like $800+/- more than a comparably equipped T470p that it is based off of - with a CPU half as powerful.

I would love to pick one of these up for the keyboard, but not at an 80%+ premium over it's island keyboard equivalent.

Sheesh.

Not one I like, but good enough. When I originally typed that autocorrect capitalized the L. I should have just left it

wow ... here is my personal rollercoaster on this :

saw the pics : want it
read the specs : hm
saw the video : looks nice
read the price : hell no

still fondly remember my TP 600 ... but that pricetag is way too high for my nostalgia

Yeah - it's pretty much a T470s or T470p with a slower CPU and an $800+ premium to get a better keyboard. Disappointed. I could see $100-$200 up charge for it, but wow - I guess they don't want to sell very many.

So a slower CPU and old style keyboard I'd all it takes to make a retro ThinkPad? I know lots of people that already owned them, then.
[doublepost=1507601356,1507601305][/doublepost]That are still realistically usable in the modern world, I mean.

I still have a T61p and a W500 in active service - both updated to max out RAM and now have SSD storage in them.

Make sure to charge appropriately if you sell your retro ThinkPads. The only special thing about mine is the older style keyboard, and that it is a handful of years old. I think I would recommend those over the new ones.

I forgot to look when I checked the specs, but did they do anything about the screen ratio for us? No need to actually answer, want to check the specs again for a few things.
