In search for a decent music player (Quasar depends on libGL, oh dear) I managed to get Quod Libet to run. http://spirit.enjoys.it/pandora/quodlibet.ogv
Install from the repositories (dependency order might be different):
python-pygtk
python-shell
python-pycairo
python-gst
python-subprocess
python-fcntl
python-zlib (could you try without and see if it recognises mp3, please?)
Download and unpack the latest source from http://code.google.com/p/quodlibet/downloads/list
Either build mutagen yourself: http://code.google.com/p/mutagen/downloads/list (this needs python-distutils) or see the following:
Here is a mutagen package http://spirit.enjoys.it/pandora/mutagen.tar.gz , just unzip it into your quodlibet source directory so mutagen/ is at the same level as the quodlibet/
I hope that works.
Now you are ready, just run ./quodlibet.py
Easy, wasn't it?
MP3 skipping currently does not work. Ogg Vorbis works fine.
You could also properly install it, but I prefer to keep things off the NAND if possible (for the time being).
It should be rather easy to put this into a PND or at least make it one archive. One could simply copy the python files into the right structure in there (like I did with mutagen), right?
I will give that a try some other day.
Enjoy!
