Is it just me or is it incredibly difficult to get movie playing correctly on a GP32? Don't get me wrong, I love my GP32 and bought it primarily for emulation. I now would like to experiment with movies. I have been ripping the same movie over and over several times for the past week and it seems every time, something goes wrong. I've read all the guides, and I'm going with (I think) the fairly standard settings of decimate by 2 and use V-Dub 1.4 and set Div-x 4.12 with bit rate of 256k. I am using 1 pass because imho when downsampling a movie to be viewed on the Gamepark, it seems like a complete waste of time to run 2 pass when the results aren't that much different.
The problems for me are in trying to play the d@mn files on my Gamepark. All of my rips turn out fine and play fine on my PC. When I copy them to my card for playback on GPCinema, I get mixed results. Sometimes the movie will start, and then crash several minutes later. Sometimes the GP will crash when starting GPCinema. I've tried everything I can think of. I have an external memory reader as well as a PCMCIA reader. I format all my cards using the GP Link method. I then use one of the readers to transfer my files. Occasionaly, after the crashes, I get bad blocks on the card, and have to reformat and start all over. I have yet to be able to watch a complete movie and it has become quite frustrating. Could it be the memory cards I am using? Dane 128mbs
Anyway, it seems that if the correct settings are used, and the bitrates defined correctly, you should be able to playback on the GP at default Cinema speed of 100 with no problems. It just hasn't worked that way for me.
Any suggestions would be more than welcome.
