Is it possible to port a video player???

I remember when I had my Tungsten I used a video player called TCPMP (The Core Pocket MediaPlayer) and it had xvid, divx, mpeg, etc codecs installed with it. I was wondering if that video player could be ported for the GP2X?

Not yet, it's still closed source. They're considering making it open source, but it's not there yet: http://www.corecoded.com.

It's possible to port a movie player, but the one we have at the moment is hardware accelerated. It would take time to port another one *and* take advantage of the hardware acceleration.

saehn: I always thought TCPMP was open source? I know they released an open source version for the Zodiac Maybe it's just the Windows version that is closed source.

BTW, I thought the link should be http://tcpmp.corecodec.org/ but it seems both will work.

Sorry, you're right! I was looking at the Windows version.

TCPMP is really a great player. I remember playing this thing on my Tungsten with a VERY low MHz, but I encoded videos that looked really nice. I hope when it does come out into open-source that someone can port it =).
