Hi all,

I’m pleased to announce a new GUI application targeted for the pandora!

First things first, the code : http://github.com/Zoxc/scale/tree/master
Ok, now that we had the priorities straight, let me say that this is in very early release; it doesn’t do anything useful yet.

It’s being written by Zoxc, whom should be on this forum, but had his account locked down.

We are looking for bugs, suggestions, general feedback, and people to make nice graphic themes :D

Here are the binaries:
http://rapidshare.com/files/148634032/Scale_R4_Win32.zip
http://rapidshare.com/files/148633737/Scale-R4-Linux-x86.zip

It relies on SDL, SDL_ttf and SDL_image, so be sure to have everything installed for the Linux version.

To control it: A = L, D = R, Enter = A and left/up/down/right is dpad. Of course it’s touch-screen optimized so you can use your mouse :)
And it has an early framework that can also be used for 3rd party application and for game menus, etc.

Here is a screenshot:

Enjoy!

It looks pretty. :D

I'm wondering what the organizational structure is inside the games/media/other(/web?) menus is.

For sub categories you’ll have a folder-like browsing, as if in windows xp explorer: categories as folders listed first, clicking on them would open a similair menu just replaced the position at top.

For scrolling, it will be page based scrolling (ipod touch-like).

well im not a fan of the "phone type" gui... and i cant tell if this is a windowed type gui were i can see more than one program up at the same time... it looks pretty though

You ought to make it so that when clicked/touched, instead of selecting a menu item (Package Manager, Filesystem, etc.), it activates it.

It’s a "phone type" GUI, because it has a phone-size screen (cf htc touch hd).
As I said, I’m not the author, but for the moment it’s not planned to make it windowed (everything full screen), but it’ll run multi-apps at the same time as you can see in the screenshot.

For now there’s a selection because it does nothing, but then it will just re-activate the app to the foreground.

He doesn't show up on the members list at all... Weird.

Have him try to re-create his account. The board has been wonkey lately, it may have just swallowed the account somehow. PM Hando if problems persist. He's the board admin, and the only one that can change member status / level.
PS - That UI is looking good :)

He can still login/logout (login: "Zoxc"). He can’t re-create an account, it says "Sorry, an account already exisits with the IP". Maybe you can’t see him from the purgatory group?

Indeed :)

And there’s an updated version, with 3x faster animations, just on the other side of those links:

I like it. It looks good and seems simplistic enough to work great without a stylus or having to use the game pad controls. The animations give it a nice bit of class but aren't super heavy or over the top. Keep up the good work, I'm stoked for pre-ordering knowing the community behind this project.

zoxc is currently in the purgatory group, not quite sure why. I will ask the other mods if there's a reason for this and if not I will remedy the situation.

Check this new video of scale:

How customizable is this? Can you script locations of icons, what icons appear, and other things? I'm currently looking at a few GUI frontends to customize for a project of mine.
