My mum has a Nintendo DS Lite and I was looking what would be needed to run homebrew/emulation/DS games on it. Ive heard you can buy some sort of cart that you can plug an SD card into? Does anyone know what we need?

Ive looked around google and stuff and have come up with loads of different things and am confused.

if my memory serves me right you need a memory card that will fit one that does is the R4 for ds and u will need a sandisk micro sd

once you got them 2 items you will need to goto http://www.r4ds.cn/ and download the most recent kernel should be on that page

the kernel is in rar format so you will need to get winrar or something if you havent already

after that it is pretty much follow the guides that come with the emulators

hope this helps

Supercard DS One + any micro sd card. Again download latest firmware from site as instructed. s/b £25 delivered. Got mine from gizzards.

dealextreme.com is the cheapest place for flascards, a acekard 2 goes for 32 U.S. Dollars WITH a 2gb microSD card.
Also if you want a card for homebrew a card featuring DLDI patching would be a good idea (cards that dont support it on the hardware side of things require it to be run on the computer first, and is a total pain) and can be checked on the box. also a speedy (normally kingston japan) microSD card is a good idea, otherwise some games (like caslevania DoS) wont play.

Isn't it a different story if you want to play commercial games? Just wondering.
The only thing i can thing of that cant run commercial games is the "games n' music", which supports almost absolutely noting.

I only got into DS Homebrew recently, the advice I took was from Shane R Munroe ( http://www.dualscreenradio.com/ ), who seems to be big into DS homebrew... He says the CycloDS is the best bet at the moment, cause it's still constantly being updated, and seems to do everything.
I picked one up here ( http://www.consoleup.com/shop/Console/Cyclo-DS/ ) for £30,
Then I grabbed an EZ Flash 3in1 (for playing my backed up GBA games, rumble and expanded ram) here ( http://www.cheapmod.com/item--EZ-Flash-3-in-1--ez31 ) for £15, then a cheap 4gig SDHC card from Dabs for next to nothing. Everything works perfectly, and I'm extremely happy with the set up.

Hope that's of some use.

:) Thanks for that, I tell her about that one, looks much better than the R4DS one for what she needs.

I wish i could get a Cyclo, but no stores i can find have then at reasonable prices. :(
edit- the DSTT at dealextreme just dropped to 12, and is apparently a slight revision of the older card to help reduce the number of pirate cards.
I would buy it, but my DS hinge just died.

That's what I use for my DS, works great. Be sure to pick up a microSD card from Newegg.

I had a supercard but It died after a half of year. Also playng DPG files was not perfect.

Now I'm using EZ Flash5 +3-in-1 in slot2 and happy :)

I use the M3 real adapter. Saddly its been months since the last update (end of may). I did manage to find a big cheat code file for it. the cheat code file works for every ds game ever made in NA up to july. mine didnt come with a sd card when i bought it and had to pay extra for it. I didnt have much money is its just a 1gb.
