Allright...I have the scumm port. All I need now are the games! I dont know what to do about the games! I have the dayofthetentacle.exe file and the beneathasteelsky.dsk file which I got off of the scummvm.org site. I already tried putting both in the gpmm/scumm/ file and it didnt work. pLEASE HELP!!!!

by the way Im using the gpscumm3c1 port by phox.

beneathasteelsky doesnt work in scumm for gp32, only Lucas Arts games, and you need a .dsk file, you cant use an .exe.

What? I think you said I posted in the wrong forum. Yea I know I just needed help quick and I forgot completely about which forum I was typing in mybad!

Anyway...where can I find the .dsk files for all the games I adore?

My bad...wait this is my second my bad! Sorry Im new to the forum
Ok then let me ask this and it may be a dumb question.. Im not very computer savey. Can I just change the .exe file of dayofthetentacle to a .dsk to make it work? And can that port play any other files beside .dsk files?

The files you need to play DOTT with scummvm are:

Tentacle.000 7 KB
Tentacle.001 9813 KB
Tentacle.002 1866 KB
Tentacle.003 32 KB

You have to put them in the "gp:\GPMM\DOTT" folder.

the speech is in monster.sou I have the floppy version, so it's mostly sound effects, and doesnt require any conversion.. I believe you need to run a conversion on the cd rom version.. if you get one working i'd like a copy, since my floppy version doesnt have anyone talking beyond the opening screens. here's the conversion info:

http://www.distant-earth.co.uk/gp32/

For MONSTER.SOU:

MP3: You need LAME and the extract tool from the ScummVM-tools package to do this with.
making a backup is suggested, then copy the MONSTER.SOU file to a temp folder and run:

extract monster.sou

It will take approximately 30 minutes (depending on the size of the MONSTER.SOU) and will produce a MONSTER.SO3 file, copy it to the game folder and you can remove the MONSTER.SOU.

OGG: As above but run:

extract --vorbis monster.sou

This should produce a smaller MONSTER.SOG file, which you should copy to your game directory.

there arn't any 002 and 003 files everything is in the 000 and 001 files. what version of the game do you have trooper as all the ones i've seen only have 000 and 001. they are waisting space on your GP. If i were you i'd take them off

000 = 8KB
001 = 11,093KB

also if you are using the newest port then the files must go in gp://Scummvm/DOTT for Day of the tentical alough you can have the DOTT dir any name you want(under 8 characters though).

Also if you want sound it must be converted to ogg to work with the current version of the gp32 port of scummvm mp3 support will be added in future versions

The best place for you to get Games to run with is is e-bay or in shops as some still sell compalations of the games now.

They are still classed as games not ROMS as they are stand alone games. the scummvm program only acts as a new exe file for all of the supported games. ROMS are games that need a program to run. but since scumm games can run but only on old systems. ie dos but some will work on newer ones with a little work on them.

Keep yourself legal and buy the games then copy the files to use.

Kniessl the floppy versions won't work with the CD sound file as it's in the actual game files (000 and 001) when sounds should play so it will be usless.
