GP2X List Of Sdl Games That Needs To Be Sorted Through

One I would love to see on gp32/gp2x that is on the wiki list, is Abuse.

It's already in a resolution that fits, and it would rock as a handheld game.

Altho I haven't been able to find any solid info on the port that is apparently in progress? Looking forward to it tho ;)

I spoke to the author of Abuse-SDL about porting his game, however he already had plans to port it to the GP2X. (as soon as he gets it)

It's really good that the original porter is planning of doing this.

He indicated that he was not going to get the first round of GP2Xs as he planned to see if the first boards have problems. So dont expect this to be completed soon.

I love abuse, really love abuse, but I son't get how it would work on GPX2. What made it do good was its innovative was its mose keyboard control(+everything)

Excellent news that it is actually the original porter of Abuse planning to take it to GP2X :)

It's a quality title and worth the wait, and what's more there was some development on level editors etc for the Free Abuse project I think he is involved in as well. That would be great for the GP2X community.

As for the control method, Abuse isn't actually the first game to use those 360 run and gun controls, just the first to use it with a mouse. I can't remember the name of the first arcade game that used it, but it was a very similar style of game to Abuse. There was even a c64 version of that game.

Basically joypad for movement, and two buttons for rotating the gun would probably do it, would take a bit of getting used to tho.

Or hey, someone write drivers for a USB mouse or something! hehe

Anyway, good news Abuse will be coming to gp2x sometime :)

That would work pretty well: Use the four face buttons to move the player, and use the analogue stick to aim. Use one of the shoulder buttons to fire?

I would dearly LOVE to see a port of Aleph One. AKA Bungie's Marathon, or What Bungie Did Before Halo.

The GP2X pad is a digital one with 8 positions and 12 contacts (2 per diagonal)

That means you can make up to 24 positions, 12 contacts x2 equals 24! (you can go between the contacts). The gp32 only had 4 contacts.

Um, those look like Windows virtual keys, not SDL ones (SDL ones are normally called SDLK_whatever). If I may ask, did that code snippet come from the public header files for SDL, or from some internal one that's not exposed to consumers of the library? I ask because I'm writing some stuff in Windows SDL, expecting to just recompile when I get my gp2x (I have a few #ifdef _MSC_VER here and there for the Windows-only parts). I'd like to know if I need to add a layer of abstraction (probably a table lookup) so my code will compile for both Windows SDL and gp2x SDL.

Paradroid is a great game. You'll most certainly be able to play it on the gp2x version of Frodo. The c64 emulator that Mike Dawson is working on.
