My 5 year old widescreen TV has just gone crazy but I don't really want to buy a new one. Rather than taking a smalll TV with me to uni I thought I might be able to save space by using my widescreen laptop as a monitor/TV tuner.

I don't have any Video I/O ports (aside from a monitor socket), what I would like to know is; can you get some sort of USB TV tuner which also allows for the input of s, Component etc so I can use my laptop as a TV and a monitor for my PS2 and gamecube?

I've had a look around on various sites but don't really know what exactly it is that I'm looking for. If anyone has any recommendations that would be great.

Yes there's a USB 2.0 one, I have one which was obtained from argos, it doesn't exactly fill the screen, it turns an input into a capture device, so you could view it from within a window etc. When I get my USB one back I'll see if I can provide details.

I got a PCI TV Turner/Capture Card, it works pretty good, but it still lags, not a lot tho, it's just noticiable doesn't im pact game play alot

if you can I sould uise DScaler for the program to view your capture card, ecspeciall if it's an ATi one, MMC lags so much

Thanks trooper, thats exactly the kind of thing I'm looking for. My only concern is compatibility, my laptop (compaq 3000) isn't in either list but the compaq 2800 is which suggests mine may not be due to it being so close in revision number.

I'll email them and find out.
