Iriver Pmp

Looks lovely saving the battery pack (much prefer AAs - easier to get replacements). But yeah, $499 is too much - better to just buy a few SMCs...

And surely it can't be 80 hours? Must be more than that considering at decent quality 320x240 we get an hour and a half into 100mb or so... thus 15 hours for 1gb, and with 20gb available...

That comes to a LOT more than 80 hours. Albeit not at the machine's capacity foir quality, but tbh, if it looks perfectly good, why go higher?

5 hours of battery life still sucks no matter the quality of it. I use my GP32 on long haul flights and it hardly breaks a sweat. Helps also if duty free sells AAs ;)

If we can get a good way of connecting a harddrive mp3 player to the gp32, you could do exactly that, for a fraction of the price.

Yes, but the resolution could be higher, and so could the frameate - as well as the compression being lower, hence a better picture.... Who honestly would want more than 80 hours of video on ANYTHING???

The Creative player uses Windows and WMP files which means lots of rights protection type crap, forget about getting a DVD on it without having a lot of trouble.

...if at all.

Of course, for videos, it does. If you have 25 fps, that's 25 pictures per second, whereas 15 fps would only have 15 pictures per second. Imagine the video as a series of jpegs, the more pictures you have, the higher filesize.

Framerate changes the filesize by a little bit but not by much, Encode some stuff with Vdub and see for yourself. It's the sound, and the type of encoding that makes the real big differences.

Thats what I thought...

I encoeded Scary movie at 12fps and it came out at 120mb, then I used the exact same settings but with 16 (Or 18) fps and it came out at the same file size 120mb...
