Hi Folks,

Some of you will probably remember me from GP32x, been there since my GP32 days! Anyway, I thought it time I joined this new forum.

I have had a Pandora since June last year and recently had a replacement unit sent to me due to one or two minor issues.

Whilst on the subject to of obtaining my replacement unit can I just publically state that Jocelyne and Debs have been exceptionally helpful and their service is second to none. Craig, if you read this please let them know how grateful I am (just mention Spot the dog).

Now, on to my biggest issue. I am having problems connecting to my home wifi (unsecure), the status just shows 'disconnected' and when I try to connect a message pops up saying 'connection has been disconnected'. Some times the Pandora says 'no device avalible'.

My previous unit automatically connected without any input from me at all. I have played around with the 'edit accounts' and all that and can't get it to work. Last night I reflashed the unit, but still the same issue!

I should add that my computed knowledge is rather limited, I fumbled my way through my various GP32's, 2X and dingoos! so please talk to me in simple terms.

On another note, PSCX is absolutly fantastic:) I was wondering if anybody has got Starwars The Phantom Menace to work?

Also on pscx, I can not get past Natlas Mines on Tomb Raider 1, it keeps crashing, has anybody else got past this level?

And finally a request, I love Atari Lynx - it's my all time favorite console and the emulator on the Pandora is superb. I would like to ask anybody with the necessary skill and ability to add save states. I have a wife, 3 kids, a dog and professional job and can only grab a few minutes here and there for gaming which is why this is so important to me.

Thank you for taking the time to read my waffle, any assistance with the wifi would be very much appreciated.

Kevin

What firmware version was your old Pandora on and what version is the new one on?

Your old Pandora might have been set for the wifi to be always on, with HF5 you have to manually turn it on in the menu.

After that it should just find the wifi and ask if you want to connect, does it see the network?

Hi Craig,

My old unit was HF4, the new unit is HF5. When it first boots if I toggle wifi it says 'disabling wifi' and when I toggle it back on it says 'enabling wifi' and then a message pops up at the bottom says 'the connection has been disconnected'. I don't think it looks for the network at all, I don't get any other messages other than above. The connection says 'never used'

Any idea's?

I'm sorry, I'm useless here, but tech support from the inventor! Does it get better? It's like having Bill Gates fix your Windows based PC...

maybe posting what the output file for op_wifi.out says located in Filesytem/tmp may shed some light ?

There is no such file in their, I have fam-kevin, iconcache, keyring-TVm7cm, orbit-kevin, pulse-PKdhtXMmr18n, currentuser and gui.stop.

All meaningless to the likes of me i'm afraid!

Hi, I had tried deleting the whole list before I reflashed, but sadly to no avail:-(

Here is the dmesg thing, I hope this lot means something to you guys.

seems your wifi chip is not working properly. whilst i probably think it's a hardware issue, i suggest you to install the latest Notaz beta wifi driver

I have downloaded the file and placed it on my sd card, but have no idea how to install it (like I say I have limited understanding of such matters) any tips would be great. It has a file extention of .IPK?

yes, run the following command => sudo opkg install <filename>

type your password and voilá

reboot
Thanks for your help Alerino, no joy though!

So is this a hardware issue, do I need to send it back for repair or is there anything else I can try first?
