GTA 3 was going to be on the GBA- till it was canned.

It would be ace to see someone try to put the original on the GP32.

Y'know it's something I hadn't thought about, and it would work great on the GP32. The only thing stopping people from doing so is the lack of source code, its not exactly a game you could rip sprites from.

Also would it be worth it without the music and radio stations?

the original gta had loads of tile editing programs for it that could rip sprites from the data files the one that i remember is junction25 which i think was a map editor but there was other sprite editors and car hacks

Well, i know id still play it without the music and radio stations.

Maybe if someone was sufficiently good with midi..............

i would play it.
i love the first version.

i still play it today on the pc.

sask

http://www.fifengr.com/gtacars/

Rips sprites out of gta (ALL sprites)

and it also has the wave editor so u can get all the sound files from gta

This will be a HUGE task for some1 to do and i checked out about gta and gta1 is free but the source code wasnt released. So my idea is to make gta simple as in you have to steal cars and drive to places and after u pick up something on each place the cops in the cars start to come after you.

That is alot of work even when the gameplay is made basic i dont think any1 has enough time to pull it off.

It would be more possible to get a psx emulator working at just a playable speed for gta 1

Also if you wanted a title screen for a gp32 version u can use this http://members.aol.com/cowhidecpu/blkgta.gif

I didn't realise there was even confirmation that anyone had actually started on programming the 'game' of GTA... I knew that Raylight [http://www.raylight.it/] had some shots and a movie of a game that looked like a proper 3D version of the original GTA - Is this the same company?

So if this is the company, and they have canned the game - What the heck is the engine going to be used for???

(I've commented on this as someone is in the process of making Resident Evil for the GP32, which Raylight look like they might be working on too!)

The company that canned it was Crawfish Interactive, they went bust.

Just imagine the original GTA on the GP32 - OMG. I used to play that game for hours, nay, days!

A dos emulator :)

We could start from scratch but the project would need to be on sourceforge or something.

someone must do this the gp32 easily has the power i would imagine atleast compared the gba. I would pay for it infact i think i'll pray for it in church bwaaaaaaaaa :) choob! choob!

I never was a fan of the grand theft auto series. I liked 3 for a bit then I found out that it got boring after 2 days.

I dont think it will get ported though. I guess if you wanted it that bad you could play the gameboy color version. Is there a better version on a console?
