I'm looking into getting a GP32, is it worth me spending a bit more on a Front-lit one??
Yes, I have a GP32 FLU.
Are there any problems with having a non-front lit one?
It's almost as dark as the original GBA screen - impossible to see well unless you're in a very well lit place. The FLU lets you see anywhere, anytime, which to me is kinda the point of having a portable system in the first place.
The potential negatives of the FLU are dust, trapezoid and sometimes glue smudges and other minor installation imperfections. But the internally lit display is worth it.
Depends on where you plan to use your GP32. I use mine only on the train/bus (commuting) and at home on the couch. I don't have a FLU and I don't miss it.
If you plan on using your GP32 in the car, bed or other dark/dim lit places get a FLU.
in my opinion its required, i use my GP at night if theres crap on the TV mostly and on the train occasionally, and unless the lights hitting it just right, it can be a pain to see, no matter how much you crank up any gamma options available. Id go as far as saying i use it less just now solely because of this.
Let me put it this way, it annoys me that much ive just ordered another light unit, even tho ive got the non-light one (sold it to a m8 )
The light version removes any drawbacks completely, even at night its perfect (i hope)
On the train in the morning my non-flu is great. But if I want to play it while my girlfriend is watching the telly with the lights dimmed- it's a bit iffy.
Yeah, I wish I had known that a FLU was coming out, because I like to play at night, but I can't without normal light. In the day the screen is very readable and even in kinda dim rooms it is readable, much better than GBA, but you should get FLU. Just my opinion though.
Short answer: GET IT*
Long answer: GET IT*!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
*It does have some trapezoid and dust, and it wakes up my dog, but still a bigger light lighting up the screen would wake him more
