Thank you Steam!!
Comments?
I wanted to install this to my Mac, but I'm running 10.4. Advice (aside from switching to 10.5)?
I'm getting it on my PC, that's for sure.

I read somewhere that the Linux Steam will be out by the end of the summer. I'll download whatever is free when that comes out. This is good though, I think if game makers would port to Mac and Linux it would double their sales, about time they realize that.

This looks like a great game, but I was really disappointed.

First I had to install Steam (fair enough) but it's 141 MB! Seems huge for something that I didn't expect to have any content?
It took about 45 minutes to download the game - I assume it's some sort of torrent thing - not a straight download?
Then when I ran it, it said my video hardware wasn't good enough. It's a 2 year old macbook?
It allowed me to run it anyway, but it was really slow...

Have I just had a bad experience? Have other people had more luck with this?

If it's an actual Macbook, and not a Macbook Pro then you've not got a dedicated graphics card and it'll be trying to using the integrated crap that you normally get on most cheapish laptops. It's just not good enough :(

It's a pitty for you though as Portal is an awesome game and teh credits pwn :p

Oh, and for anyone waiting for the Linux steam before getting this: Get it now. The game is completely free right now and it isn't just a free trial period. Create a steam account and add it to your basket and then whenever you do get steam on Linux, you'll have a legal copy already and won't have to pay for it then. Having said that, it is normally only a few £££ and I'd recommend getting The Orange Box anyway, which has it included.

I had to turn the settings on my laptop WAY down to play Portal, but that's because most of the hard drive is occupied and I have loads of stuff running in the background.
Oh, and Vista.
But at least I have Portal linked to my Steam account now, so when I upgrade, I'll be able to play on full. Look out, world.
Although my Steam install didn't take that long...

If you are done with the game and want more, this is a very nice prequel mod with about the same length and even pretty much the same quality as the original game. I really loved it!
