I recently got a GP2X mk1.. when a couple of days later mk2 was released. Stupid stupid me... but anyways, it crashes alot. At first I thought it was because it was overheating because the batteries get very hot but sometimes it does it seconds after I turn it on. The picture freezes and then goes all fuzzy. I also thought it might be because of low batteries but its happend with new ones too. Its extremely frustrating because even if you switch it off and on again, the screen still goes fuzzy so you have to wait a while to use it again. Has anyone ever had this? Is it because I need to upgrade the firmware? Should I send it back and get a mk2?
Thanks

I use 1300mAh rechargables and they last about 3 - 4 hours. The normal non-rechargable ones last about 30 minutes if I'm lucky!

So if you get the 2500mAh or higher, you should be looking at 6 hours +

i used to use 1300 before i got my 2500
and they did not last 3-4h, hardly past one hour usually.
Where did you get your batteries from? haha
mayby i just have bad batteries
My 2500 havnt even reached 6h either lol

I've got 2500mAh and I get about 7 hours for music/video and 4 to 6 on games
MAME varies
squidgeSnes sucks juice
nkSNES9x drains a little less than squidge (but it has no sound >_<)
fishyNES emu get 6+
Vektar 6+
GNUboy2x 6+

I guess it all depends on how much CPU it uses... if you want more battery life: underclock your system. I know that fishyNES works at 133Mhz... (for most games) so I can save lots of battery by just underclocking that!

PS - I recommend Duracell, there more expensive then the other brands (like rayovac and energizer), but duracell seems to last more charges than the rest!

Just standard Energizer rechargables...

Maybe you have the same batteries as DaveC ;)

i use 2500 they last at max 5 hours which is stretching it

dont forget the 15 minute battery chargers tend to make the batteries crappy (dont last that long) after like a year b/c its charging so fast

also turning the gp2x on and off a 1000 times a day really kills the battery.
If u watch a movie on it for a straight and 1/2 hours or soo and dont press any buttons its not gonna drain the battery.

Basically it just depends on what u do on the gp2x

Hi, just bought an MKII and was wondering does the battery LED actually ever come on?

Plus is the Battery Charge Level function in settings accurate, because my unit has crashed several times but the bar is always "Full"?

I use Ansmann 2600Nimh batteries - about 4-5 hours continuous gaming on a set before recharging.

Sometimes my GP2x crashes, during playtime, for no logical reason - switch unit off, reboot, fine again for a while. I can play for hours before a crash, sometimes seconds. Not a problem, but it would be nice if it didn't. This was a new unit, came with f/w 1.21, upgraded it to 1.4 then 2.0.

I haven't installed the SDK (is this name right) libraries - any reason to??
