Apache Server

Hi,

I read on the wiki that the GPH firmware has an Apache server included. Anyone use it? What for?

It would be cool to control the :gp2x from a web based interface...
It's not apache, it's thttpd. It's not a "control" method, simply a very basic fileserver...

I wasn't implying that it was, just that it might be possible... but you're saying that it's actually just a file server? Ah well.

Well, I used it once for testing a website I just created as I was on holiday and only had a WinXP notebook and a gp2x with me :)

All webservers are fileservers and not control methods. It's server side scripting like PHP which gives you control, which is very possible on the GP2X. Was on the F100 anyway, don't know if the F200 still has PHP but I can't see why they'd remove it (but it's less important on the F200 as they've removed the usb networking stuff). A PHP interface could very quickly and easily be written to do things like config and file management, it's just that no-one's ever bothered to do it as far as I'm aware.
