Anyone Got An E-ink Reader

I'd really like one, but the cost of ebooks is usually the same as the price of a genuine bound book. And much for the same reason as I still buy CDs, it's always nice to have a hard, physical copy. Maybe if both the readers and the ebooks declined in price, I'd take the plunge.

And no backlight! What's with that?!

They are designed to mimic ink and paper. By all accounts they do a reasonable job but at £300 or so for the best ones I'd like to be sure before I laid out the cash. As for the backlight the displays are designed to hold the image with no power. Battery life is measured by number of page turns with 8 and 10k turns being possible on one charge. 80 pages a day for 3 months anyone? :)

Just for info the Sony and Kindle are DRM'd which means you can't add text files from project guttenburg etc to them.

I think for now I'll stick to my palm m500 for night reading and my Clie TH55 for daytime.

Actually, you can add normal text files to the sony reader, as well as .pdf files to some degree.

You know that you are a nerd when you have multiple gadgets just for reading ebooks at different times of the day!
