A Way Around Rebooting After Crashing?

Hey all, i'm trying to get into the nitty gritty with dosbox to see if i can get it to work well with more games than the silly demo that comes in the zip.

One of the most annoying things is when an app doesnt work and i get a black screen and have to flick off the unit, pull the SD card out, remount it in XP, change the files, put it back into the unit, turn it on, wait to boot, and start the newly edited app and watch THAT go to a black screen.

So the question is, can I use any app in conjunction with my games to kill a blank screened process, like i would in XP if an app crashed? Or is there a feature in the dev kit for the gp2x that I can use to simulate the environment on my computer so I can do all my testing without actually using the gp2x itself?

Let me know. I would really like to get a little tutorial on dosbox together because it would really open up a new world of gaming for the community.

thanks!

enable networking on it and telnet in. unless you have actually crashed the system (kernel, init, and such), you can simply restart the menu.

depending on how its crashed it might bring you back to the command prompt which is the black screen. if you have a serial cable you should be able to reload the gp2x menu by typing in ./gp2xmenu (you might have to change folder first) or just rerun the program again i.e. ./dosbox.gpe or whatever the gpe is called.

[edit] redeeman beat me to it :)

innnnteresting... so I would need the dev board to connect to this thing other than by the USB cable?
